When You Care: The Unexpected Magic of Caring for Others with Elissa Strauss

Dr. Dan interviews journalist Elissa Strauss about the powerful role caring for others plays in our lives and about her powerful book When You Care: The Unexpected Magic Of Caring For Others.

Drawing on parenting and caregiving research and her own experiences as a mother, Elissa explains to Dr. Dan that care is a long-ignored force in our collective lives – and a deeply philosophical, spiritual, and psychologically potent experience. Their discussion explores and acknowledges the breadth, depth, and beauty of all that caregivers do.

Dr. Dan interviews author and journalist Michele Turk about her memoir What Makes Him Tic? A Memoir Of Parenting A Child With Tourette.

When Michele Turk’s 11-year-old son, Michael, was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome, she made it her mission to show him – and others – that he was so much more than the boy with tics who shouted obscenities hundreds of times a day.

This interview coincides with the Tourette Association of America’s Tourette Syndrome Awareness Month (May 15 - June 15) and TAA’s national TIC-CON24 conference where Michele and her son Michael are speakers.

A journalist for three decades, covering parenting, health, and education, Michele Turk’s articles have appeared in BusinessWeek, Parents, Parenting, Elle, USA Weekend, The Washington Post, and Brain, Child. Losing Our Daughter and Finding Our Way with Myra Sack and Matt Goldstein

Compassionate, relatable, and funny!

I just heard my first Dr. Dan podcast after knowing about Dan and the Summit Center for years. I listened to the Barbara Rosenblatt episode on Winnie the Pooh and so much more! I look forward to more stories and ways to connect with other parents and people who care for children and families.

Patrick Hinds is abusive🛎️

As we speak, Patrick Hinds has employees, ex employees, fans, podcasting peers, etc posting diatribes about what a horrible, abusive and toxic person he is. His fans are seeking legal recourse for fraud. All his lies and abusive behavior have been made public. I STRENUOUSLY suggest you do more homework on guests.

Legitannoyed ,

Misogyny

Authentic???? Did you do ANY research on Patrick Hinds? He just held obssesed fest 2 and it was a dumpster fire. He’s a scam artist and a fraud. Authentic is the last thing i’d ever say about this man child. He told his best friend and podcast host that he’d believe Gillian(tco host) even is gillian burned down Ellyn’s House…Bad move having him on here…big mistake…Huge

He also ignores his child, and threw her into private school as not to have to “deal with her”
