Sing For Science is a science and music podcast produced with Talkhouse where musicians talk to scientists about science as it connects to their most famous songs. Created and hosted by New York musician, Matt Whyte, the podcast’s goal is to increase science literacy for as many people as possible by reaching a variety of different musicians’ fan bases. Listeners come to the show through their love of music and leave with a new piece of knowledge. Science literacy and respect for expertise are perhaps more vital now than ever before. The show’s chief tenet is that a more science and scientific process literate society can only contribute towards greater support for more fair, evidence-based policy in government. Sing For Science is listener supported; please contribute today at singforscience.org.

Every conversation is unlike anything I’ve ever heard before.

Why did I wait so long?

I found out about this podcast before it started, because I was in the email list for Matt’s old band, Earl Greyhound (Soft Targets is an amazing album and they were a killer live band). It sounded interesting, but it was mid-COVID and things got weird and I forgot. Finally started listening a few days ago and it’s fantastic. Brilliant guests and fascinating conversations - Matt deftly moderates and often has an interesting story to keep things moving. I started with the Pat Metheny/Charles Limb episode about the neuroscience of improvisation, incredible. It’s fun to hear really smart people explain what they do, and how. I’m hooked.

Brilliant

I love this show. It’s a great mix of culture and science that brings about revelations in every episode. The guests are exceptional from the featured musicians to the many authors and scientists that join them for conversation. I find every episode engaging even when the topic isn’t something I feel interested in. Sign up for this pod and don’t look back.
