    Choosing Happiness by Trusting Ourselves

    Choosing Happiness by Trusting Ourselves

How often do we put others first and neglect our own needs? Join me as I welcome Yahaira Villa, a coach and advocate for personal development who encourages us all to prioritize self-trust. Yahaira holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from UC Davis and a Master's degree in Counseling from Santa Clara University. We're exploring the concept of self-exploration and self-awareness, discussing practical ways to build habits and boundaries that strengthen our self-trust muscle.

We tackle the societal expectations we often find ourselves trapped within and the importance of forgiveness when we realize we've been living up to others' expectations, not ours. Yahaira caps off our chat with her thrilling upcoming move to Brazil, a testament to her trust in herself to step into unfamiliar territory. Join us, and let's discover the courage it takes to make significant changes in our lives.

Finding Balance: Overcoming Productivity Anxiety and Embracing Self-Care as a Mompreneur

Do you ever feel that nagging guilt when you're not spending time with your child, or struggle to find the balance between work and personal life? As a mompreneur, I've faced this challenge head-on, especially with my daughter, Emma, being on summer break and spending time with her father. Join me in this episode as I open up about my journey to overcome productivity anxiety and discover the importance of balancing responsibilities with self-care.

Learn how our upbringing can impact our productivity anxiety and the constant feeling of not doing enough. Together, we'll uncover ways to break the cycle by embracing the pleasure of not doing anything, allowing our minds and bodies to recharge, and finding joy in activities that bring happiness. By taking care of ourselves, we can be fully present when spending time with our loved ones and create a more fulfilling life. So, if you're a mompreneur or a working mom who can relate to this struggle, tune in to this heartfelt episode as I share my insights and experiences to help you find your balance.

Return to the River: Reflections on Life Choices

Return to the River: Reflections on Life Choices

This week I am joined by author Dave Pelzer, best known for his memoir of child abuse, "A Child Called It".  As with many of us, Dave was forced to re-examine his life during the pandemic. Despite his many accomplishments—writing multiple bestselling books, including the classics A Child Called “It” and The Lost Boy, serving in the armed forces, receiving awards from US Presidents, and battling ferocious California wildfires—Dave found himself at an emotional crossroads. In his struggle to simply survive, he never learned how to just be. What did he learn during this moment of reflection and what does he want to share with Imperfect Mellow listeners? Listen to this week's episode to find out.

    Read & Yoga

    Read & Yoga

Hello mellow friends! This week we are joined by an amazing guest. Ashley Fontes graduated from BYU with a degree in Humanities and is a writer, mother, yoga teacher, and mental health advocate. Ashley's neurodivergent children are her inspiration for teaching yoga. Ashley has seen the benefits of mindfulness and yoga in the lives of her kids, and found it to reduce tantrums and improve communication. This inspired her to begin her organization "Read and Yoga" to give tools to kids and parents to be able to handle whatever life throws at them.

Learn more about her journey and how you can incorporate some of these strategies into your own lives.
