    • Health & Fitness

Welcome to Yoga Unplugged Conversations
A podcast dedicated to helping you grow, thrive and gracefully make tough life decisions, so you can lead a happier, healthier life.
Host Sarah Burchard invites special guests on the show to deep dive into real life issues, providing tools and philosophies to help you navigate them with greater ease.
Sarah is a yogi, freelance writer, natural foods chef and certified health coach passionate about self-development, yoga and promoting local businesses and food through her writing, farmers market tours and farm-to-table events under the name, The Healthy Locavore.
In today’s episode I’m talking to Jessica Rohr.
Jess is the owner of Forage Hawaii.
As a distributer of local wild, invasive, and naturally raised meats, she provides her customers with a responsible protein source; is an advocate for Hawaiʻi’s local meat industry; and supports a more sustainable food system that is healthier for us and the environment and is more accessible to everyone.
Jess has a powerful story when it comes to her life’s journey with food. Beyond her personal experiences, she also majored in dietetics at the University of Hawaiʻi and has spent countless years studying numerous diets, nutrients, and eating disorders as well as industrial farming versus natural farming and the politics of food, so that she could establish a healthier relationship to food and help others do the same.
Today Jess and I are discussing the many ways food affects our behavior and how we can have a healthier relationship to it.
We talk about…
●      Our life struggles with food
●      Why she developed an eating disorder in college
●      How she went from being a vegetarian to becoming a meat distributer
●      The theory behind Mindful Eating
●      The way she approaches her diet now
●      Why we shop at the Farmers Market instead of the grocery store
●      What she suggests for anyone struggling with food related issues
If you’ve ever had an eating disorder, were raised to finish everything on your plate, eat too fast, overeat, moralize your food, have a sugar addiction, persist in yo-yo dieting, obsess over calories, restrict your food, think carbs are evil, or have any other number of food related issues, please give this show a listen.
You don’t need another diet. You need a healthier relationship to your food.
