Buck Off Podcast: Big Ten’s TV deal, neutral site football games, and a recruiting update

Buck Off Podcast: Big Ten’s TV deal, neutral site football games, and a recruiting update

On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I’m joined by Jordan Williams to discuss the greatest exit in Big Ten conference history and why Big Ten administrators are an incredibly thoughtless group.
To get the show started, we get into Kevin Warren’s final job with the new TV deal and all the errors he left for new commissioner Tony Pettitti to figure out. This litany of things includes giving away a game he wasn’t allowed to. not consulting programs about November night games, and more.
After that we turn our attention to the worst decision a Big Ten program has ever made with scheduling. Michigan State is playing Penn State at Ford Field, a neutral site matchup on Black Friday that gives no benefit to anyone involved. The guys discuss how far away East Lansing is from Detroit and how the handling of breaking the news to season ticket holders was poor. This conversation divulges into some rants about how dumb neutral site football games are.
We return from the break with a discussion about the most recent realignment stories. This discussion includes why conferences should not listen to their worst athletic programs about anything, and how additional west coast teams are favored by some athletic directors in the Big Ten. We also discuss the recent update for ACC programs, and why the high and mighty feeling some of them have is a house of cards.
To close out the show, we finish with our final thoughts on recruiting and our favorite commentary teams in college football.

Bucketheads: Mackenzie Mgbako will join Indiana, Caleb Love will not join Michigan

Bucketheads’ is the only men’s basketball-focused podcast on the Land-Grant Podcast Network, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world. ‘Bucketheads’ will be released every other Thursday during the offseason.
“Bucketheads” is back for episode 76, and we are talking mostly non-Ohio State hoops things. After decommitting from Duke, five-star forward Mackenzie Mgbako is heading to the Big Ten and joining Mike Woodson at Indiana. Are the Hoosiers set up for success next season? Plus, Caleb Love is not joining Michigan after committing earlier in the offseason. What is next for Juwan Howard and the Wolverines?
Also, friend of the podcast and The Columbus Dispatch men’s basketball beat writer Adam Jardy sat down with Chris Holtmann and talked about last season. The guys break down some of his answers and what it means moving forward.
At the end, Connor and Justin draft teams of college basketball players since 2010. Who did the best? Head to Twitter to vote!

Silver Bullets Podcast: Buckeyes in the NFL Draft, transfer portal news, and kickoff times

Silver Bullets Podcast: Buckeyes in the NFL Draft, transfer portal news, and kickoff times

We’re back for our May check-in and there’s always news, even in the offseason. We start this show off by looking back at how Ohio State’s former players did in the NFL Draft. We didn’t have to wait long to hear C.J. Stroud’s name called, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the first receiver taken, but what about the overall draft? We walk though where the Buckeyes were selected, who landed in a good spot, and who slipped unexpectedly.
Were there any giant surprises? Not necessarily, but there were some mild ones.
After our NFL Draft talk, we checked the arrivals and departures boards over at the transfer portal. There were some key additions and a couple of guys split, but overall the OSU roster didn’t change a lot. We discussed what to expect from the new guys from an active, post-spring transfer period for the Buckeyes.
The kickoff times for a couple of games were announced and the Buckeyes are going to play a night game in mid-November. That’s news. It also isn’t something that sat well with the folks at Ohio State and a few other spots around the Big Ten. There are some elements of the new NBC deal that didn’t get the blessing of some of the B1G’s member institutions, or at least their athletic directors. A night game in November can be a little unpredictable when it comes to Big Ten weather. A lot of times it’s fine, but when it isn’t, it’s really not fine.
We’ll be back next month, or possibly sooner if news warrants, as we remain in our offseason broadcast schedule. We’ll return to our weekly format in August as we ramp up for the 2023 Ohio State football season. In the meantime, feel free to reach out with your feedback and questions below in the comments section or send us an email. Buck Off Podcast: Recruiting roundup on defensive backs, B1G QB outlook, and if we were in charge

Buck Off Podcast: Recruiting roundup on defensive backs, B1G QB outlook, and if we were in charge

From now until preseason camp starts in August, Land-Grant Holy Land will be writing articles around a different theme every week. This week is all about what we would do if we were in charge of our favorite position group, team, conference, or sport. You can catch up on all of the Theme Week content here and all of our ”If I Was in Charge” articles here.
On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I’m joined by Jordan Williams to discuss the recent recruiting news on the defensive back front.
After a few new predictions rolled in for a big time local defensive back the internet obviously handled it well. This leads to a wide discussion about Ohio State’s to main corner targets and why the battles against Michigan in this are more important. Then we get into the Elite 11 battle as well as Notre Dame being awful at recruiting.
Then we get into the Big Ten quarterback situations and rank them from bad to good with need to see in the middle. We rate every quarterback situation from Illinois to Wisconsin and there are definitely some disagreements here.
To close out the show, we finish with our final thoughts with a take on the NCAA video gams NIL plans and the failures of southern education.

Interesting Takes on Buck Off Podcast 😂

“CJ Stroud is the best QB in OSU history” just because of stats or mechanics? If those stats are against Rutgers, Indiana, and a depleted Utah secondary then yeah I guess? What about against Michigan’s secondary? Notre Dame’s secondary? Penn State’s secondary the past 2 years? I can forgive bad takes but this is so bad that I had to write a review. C’mon Jordan 😂

Bucketheads

Every other Thursday during the summer is amazing, and love the shows during the season. Five stars for Bucketheads, Connor and Justin kill it!

Racist Hosts

Get rid of Jordan and Dante, please. Could you be more blatantly racist? The bit about Hayden Hagler being a white TE at a HBCU and dropping a potentially game-tying TD was bad enough; but then going on to say that Mike Leach was “from the south, so he was probably racist” and insinuating that he had faults like supporting Trump in his campaign… that’s offensive, and I’m not even white.
There shouldn’t be any place for this kind of racism on this podcast or anywhere near this football program, and I hope those in charge at LGHL will reconsider EVER having these two (especially Jordan) on this podcast again.
