I-80 Football Show: Is Mike Locksley underrated?

I-80 Football Show: Is Mike Locksley underrated?

Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Podcast Network’s I-80 Football Show. On this show, we travel down I-80 to talk all things Big Ten Football. This is the only Big Ten Podcast that’ll cover all 18 teams. After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to for the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan.
The guys are back talking Big Ten football and this week it’s coaches' rankings. A couple weeks back Jordan wrote an article ranking the 18 coaches in the Big Ten entering the 2024 season. So for this episode, Jordan and Dante break down this ranking to see what Jordan got wrong. Starting with Mike Locksley at no. 15. There may have been a judgment error there as Maryland has been a pretty solid program the past few seasons. Is that because of Mike Locksley or despite his flaws as a coach?
Where should Lincoln Riley be ranked? While at Oklahoma he has multiple playoff appearances and Big 12 championships but he did not build the Oklahoma Sooner program he inherited it. In his two years at USC, he hasn’t won a PAC-12 title or made the playoffs and wasted the last year of Caleb Williams. How much does previous success outweigh the last few years for a coach and what should we do with one-year wonders like David Braun at Northwestern?
In their weekly pitstop, Jordan wishes Dante a happy 30th birthday and bemoans the fact that from 2024-2026 their entire friend group will be turning 30 and trying to have major celebrations. Who has the time and money for all of that?

Hangout in the Holy Land: What are our biggest concerns for this upcoming season?

The latest episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship podcast is here! Join LGHL’s Josh Dooley and Justin Golba as they discuss Ohio State football, basketball, recruiting, and much more! Come for the hot takes. Stay for the warm ones.
For this Hangout in the Holy Land episode, we are kicking off summer theme weeks here at Land-Grant Holy Land. The first theme is biggest concerns, so Justin and Josh dive into their biggest concerns for this upcoming football season.
Offensive line depth, quarterback rotation, and sacks are three things that come to mind, but are they legitimate concerns or just made up in our heads? We talk each other down and float some scenarios that may help alleviate those concerns.
Before that, we discuss the Ohio State men’s basketball team bringing in Duke transfer and McDonald’s All-American Sean Stewart and what he is bringing with him to Columbus. It is the first time Ohio State has had two McDonald’s All-Americans since Greg Oden and Mike Conley, which went fairly well.

I-80 Football Show: It's Time to Hold The Players Accountable

I-80 Football Show: It's Time to Hold The Players Accountable

Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Podcast Network’s I-80 Football Show. On this show, we travel down I-80 to talk all things Big Ten Football. This is the only Big Ten Podcast that’ll cover all 18 teams. After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to for the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan.
It was a busy news week for April, something we’re not used to at all! First, we give our respect to a legend as WNBA Superstar Candace Parker has decided to retire from basketball. Candace Parker was one of the first WNBA players to cross into pop culture breaking down barriers and ushering in this new generation of women’s basketball stars. Candace Parker was a one-of-a-kind player who was an instant success becoming the only person to win Rookie of the Year and MVP in the same season.
Continuing the news, there are reports from NBA insider Brian Windhurst that LeBron may opt out of his contract and become a free agent. Is it just a formality that LeBron will resign with the Lakers and retire in the purple and gold or is there a chance he will test free agency? NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell broke the news that he is hoping to get rid of another pre-season game and create an 18-game NFL season with two bye weeks. While players may hate it, it may be great for fans as this would push the superbowl to Presidents Day Weekend allowing fans to enjoy the superbowl and have the next Monday off for work. Lastly, Deion Sanders and his son Sheduer get into childish arguments with former players on Twitter over how they were treated in the Colorado program.
In a span of a few days, the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers were bounced from the playoffs in the first round. The torch is officially being passed in the NBA as LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant are all done playing for the season. In the case of all three superstars they may be forcing their careers too long and it may be evidenced by the unhappiness with their coaches. Throughout the season there have been leaks about all three players being unhappy with their coaches but all three teams made similar sacrifices to allow their stars to continue playing with friends and compete instead of building complete teams. It’s not the coach's fault this time, it’s on the players. It may be time for all three of them to join Candace Parker in retirement.

Interesting Takes on Buck Off Podcast 😂

“CJ Stroud is the best QB in OSU history” just because of stats or mechanics? If those stats are against Rutgers, Indiana, and a depleted Utah secondary then yeah I guess? What about against Michigan’s secondary? Notre Dame’s secondary? Penn State’s secondary the past 2 years? I can forgive bad takes but this is so bad that I had to write a review. C’mon Jordan 😂

Sound and Editing

Please, please, please upgrade to a better microphone or stop yelling. The feedback makes me turn this podcast off or skip episodes more often than not anymore because it sounds like a drive thru speaker. There’s also random cuts and edits where you’ll suddenly be back 10 minutes in the conversation. The quality has declined significantly over the past couple years. Just not what it used to be, unfortunately.
