Never Been Sicker #27 - Moving Out of Mold, Interview with Lindsey Jones Never Been Sicker

    • Health & Fitness

Today’s guest is Lindsey Jones, mother of three, mold survivor, and passionate advocate. Lindsey’s unique journey with mold began with a pipe burst that led to a massive contamination situation that slowly took over and eventually led to them moving out of mold. To make it even more frightening, the entire situation occurred while she was pregnant with her daughter.
For the year that they lived in the toxic environment, Lindsey struggled with a range of symptoms, even after they hired a remediation company to come in and fix the situation multiple times. The health effects were so drastic that she could barely take care of herself, much less her newborn baby. She and her husband battled to overcome the hurdle of downplaying mold exposure as the culprit for their issues, but when Lindsey found hidden mold all over her home, she realized that his fungus might be to blame after it all. Her discovery and repeated attempts at solving the issue led them to decide on moving out of mold instead of continuing to live in a toxic environment.
Today’s Talk:
In this episode, Michael Rubino chats with Lindsey Jones about her overwhelming and debilitating experience living through mold exposure. Her ordeal shows how much more attention needs to be paid to this indoor contaminant and how difficult it can be to accept that mold could be the cause of such large-scale issues.
Lindsey’s initial encounter with mold began when a pipe burst while she and her family were away on vacation. Their absence allowed for the water to soak through the entire home, creating a large-scale potential situation for mold to move in on. While they hired someone to come in and dry out their home as well as fix all of the structural issues, Lindsey still began experiencing a range of odd symptoms after moving back into the house. Since she was pregnant, though, they believed that was the underlying cause.
Almost at the end of her pregnancy, Lindsey discovered mold in the island in her kitchen, resulting in her and her husband hiring the same remediation company to come back and solve the problem. The company quickly remediated the visible issue while Lindsey was still in the home, and assured her family that the problem was now resolved. She put her faith in these individuals and believed that this was the end of the story. It never crossed her mind that she would eventually be moving out of mold and the incredibly toxic environment they were living in.
Fast forward to after she gave birth, and these adverse health reactions began to spiral out of control. So much so that she could barely take care of her newborn daughter or even move around her own home. Even with individuals suggesting that mold could be the culprit, she remained convinced that the issue was resolved and that there was no way this fungus could be causing so many issues. It took a chance glimpse of mold in her home to figure out there was a massive contamination issue within the building.
While they tried to remediate it again, they realized that moving out of mold was the best option for their health. Thankfully, due to Lindsey’s extensive research, they only moved out with the clothes on their backs and left all of their contaminated belongings inside of the home. She’s now back to feeling like her healthy, normal self and is using this experience to help others and advocate for change when it comes to mold.
