037: We are Made to Move | Kevin Winn & Logan Locke
We are made to move. As humans, we are blessed with the ability to walk, run, jump, climb, swim, and do many other physical movements. From a historical standpoint, humans were relatively active in everyday life (work, leisure etc.) until the 20th century. With the rapid progression of technology, the requirement to be physically active has greatly declined. It is no coincidence that the reduced need for movement has resulted in a rapid decline of population health. Chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes and hypertension are at an all-time high in America.
In order to combat chronic disease and sedentary lifestyles, fitness centers and diet programs seem to be popping up everywhere. If you scroll through social media, it is common to see friends and family promoting various health and wellness products promising a better lifestyle. While nothing is wrong with these programs, there are many people that prefer not to participate. If this is you, that’s okay! Physical activity doesn’t always have to be a structured “workout” that can only be performed in a fitness center. In fact, being physically active can be fun, rewarding, and be blended into our daily lives.
In the month of September, we are excited to be discussing all things physical wellness! We will be providing various strategies that will increase physical activity and allow you to enjoy healthy movement!
