Mothering can be an inspired journey to our most glittering, authentic, passionate, creative and connected selves. Through the mirror offered to us by our children, we are taken to every hurt, unmet need, and also every joy and excitement we’ve ever experienced. We want every woman and mother to give themselves and those around them the compassion, love and healing they so readily offer their children, but rarely allow themselves. Journey with us as we discuss the many layers of being a mother today, where we have come from and where we want to go. Learn tools to connect with yourself, offer compassion to those parts we’d rather deny and get back in love with yourself, motherhood and who you are as a feminine woman.

NTM 388: The 3 things no-one tells you about that are running your Christmas experience

Your Christmas experience can be defined by what you filter, plug into and consume - so let’s be conscious about what you’re reaffirming. In this podcast we dissect what has you feeling constricted vs heart-aligned in the festive season, and how to compassionately distill down who is in the driver’s seat of your life.
    In this episode we discuss:
     ⁃ Bringing your unconscious, conscious
⁃ The stories that run you this time of year
⁃ Bringing conscious awareness to when an old belief is driving your behaviour
⁃ Being a vibrational match for what you desire your festive season to be
⁃ Crashing into old resentment stories
⁃ Boundaries and needs as self care
⁃ Holding curiosity instead of using this new awareness to beat yourself up
⁃ The stacking of tension this time of year
⁃ Your money stories at Christmas
     ⁃ Altruism vs consumerism
⁃ The psychology of giving and receiving
⁃ Shame and guilt of the past and it impacts your present
⁃ Being prideful in your thriftiness

NTM 387: Resenting the people we love puts us in a cage: how do we break free - Part 2

NTM 387: Resenting the people we love puts us in a cage: how do we break free - Part 2

Following on from last week’s episode, we give you three super-tangible steps to break free of the resentment cage.
    In this episode we discuss:
⁃ Seeing what it’s costing you to hold firm on the belief systems you already have
⁃ Understanding that your children ‘set you up’ to feel as they do - and can you apply this as a universal principle to those you’re in resentment of
⁃ Our resentment dynamic holds clues for what it’s like to be in relationship with us…and can we use this for our own growth in how we love?
⁃ Our rigidity constricts our children and our flexibility relieves them
⁃ Allowing more flexibility within ourselves as we change, so our children can occupy more subject positions for themselves
⁃ Our true level of emotional intelligence is revealed when we’re in challenging situations
⁃ When we are stressed, we emotionally regress
⁃ Letting go of the grip of previous identities
⁃ Our world is a conservation of opposites, it’s only our brain that cannot perceive both sides in a moment
⁃ The tightrope walk of the good mother/bad mother binary. We only know ‘the good mother’ because we know the bad mother

NTM 386: Resenting the people we love puts us in a cage: how do we break free - Part 1

Following on from a listener’s email, we have an impromptu but revelatory conversation on the lived experience of resentment within our family systems. We explore deeply how mothers are ‘not allowed’ to have the complexities of humanity, according to the ‘perfect mother’ myth reinforced in patriarchal motherhood.
    In this episode we discuss:
⁃ Understanding that we only know something, by knowing it’s opposite
    ⁃ The Madonna myth
⁃ Continuously measuring your mother against a self-created fantasy ideal
⁃ The process that happens inside our brain of remylineating existing beliefs, which reinforces our emotional charges
⁃ Understanding that we will resent them to the degree that we’re holding the fantasy ideal up on a pedestal
⁃ Our neurochemical addictions to repeated family dynamics
⁃ Our addiction to our current neurochemistry reinforced by our polarisations
⁃ Rewiring our brain for change is hard
⁃ Recognising that if you got what you wanted, there will be an equilibrating loss somewhere else
⁃ Finding appreciation for your own complex family dynamics and loving the people who play the roles for you

NTM 385: Remembering how to play and laugh with your fears

NTM 385: Remembering how to play and laugh with your fears

With modern-day motherhood’s ‘hangover’ (tiredness!), Julie and Bridget debrief Jules’ completely non-PC Hysterectomy Party with a whole lot of laughter, soul and consciousness. Our key reflections were on:
⁃ Finding more availability within yourself through lightness ,laughter and self-celebration
⁃ Meeting women in the place of no pretence, where shame evaporates, and healing happens through laughter
⁃ When we name, and dance with, the fears wrapped up in our next evolution, we take away their power over us
We would love your reflections on this conversation, so please reach out!

Great resource

Overall incredibly insightful. There are some audio issues and a lot of “mmmmms” between them. And the episodes are long. But I still recommend it.

Really appreciate the real talk!

Real talk from women who feel like your friends exploring all the issues that come up in motherhood - with a nice focus on the journey and centering yourself in the conversation ❤️

The “mmmming” is obnoxious

I’m not sure which host it is, but one of them continually makes a humming/moaning “mmmmm” noise every two sentences when the other person is speaking and it’s honestly so annoying I had to turn it off!
