    Minisode: Some Small/Smol Announcements

A short little episode to tell you about a change we're making to Ologies that I am genuinely very pumped about, as well as some weird secrets I did not intend to tell. But my point is that you can now have a kid-safe show and feed that is safe for kids and classrooms and a road trip with your shy parents.

Genocidology (CRIMES OF ATROCITY) with Dirk Moses

Genocidology (CRIMES OF ATROCITY) with Dirk Moses

The world is confusing, but there are experts in everything. In our least funny episode ever, we thankfully convinced a global expert, professor, researcher, author, and Genocidologist (it’s a real word) Dr. Dirk Moses to answer the questions that we may secretly have: What exactly is genocide? How long has it been happening? Is it a war crime? Is it a crime of atrocity? Who makes up humanitarian law? What's self-defense — and what's offense? How is it litigated? Whose business is it? Why do we do this to each other? What can be done? It’s a dense, long episode with lots of asides for history and context, but it might be just what you need to give you perspective on the conditions — and cycles of trauma — that can lead to crimes of atrocities.

The Best Show

This show is full of the best people. Alie is a gem and her personality and enthusiasm is contagious. Her guests are great people too. I am a life long arachnophobe. I can’t look at a photo of a spider with out ending up having spider related nightmares. She did an episode of tarantula dancing and thumping and they converted the sounds into a song and as I listened to it I became physically nauseous.

If a spider is on a vertical surface I can’t even mush it without fear of it somehow flipping around and landing on my face. The only way I can kill one is stepping on it. And then I have to drag my boot through grass like I stepped in dog poop. I was just walking along a side walk and saw a jumping spider. These terrify me extra. Stepping on one HAS to happen. I have to kill then when I can. It’s the only relief I get from this irrational fear I suffer with.

BUT Alie loves spiders. She has an office full of them. I could never function in that room.

So I did it…. I didn’t hesitate. I just walked right by the spider. I looked back and it just went into the grass. This just happened! Like moments ago! I’m about to cry now. I have to stop writing or I will. Alie thank you for sharing your heart with us
