    #85 - Intergenerational Family Trauma

    #85 - Intergenerational Family Trauma

When we were kids, our parents were our heroes - they seemed to do no wrong and taught us everything that we needed to know. As we got older and experienced life outside of our family dynamic, things started to change - we started to question those differences. Our instinct became to fight back, either with our parents or within ourselves.
This week, we share the family trauma we’ve experienced and how that has shaped us throughout our lives, especially now as adults. From mental to physical abuse, we talk about how intergenerational trauma has cycled into our lives, how we’re learning to recognize it, and how we’re breaking those toxic patterns.

#83 - Sister Advice: Disney's Live Action Mulan Review with Minji (@minjeezy)

#83 - Sister Advice: Disney's Live Action Mulan Review with Minji (@minjeezy)

DISCLAIMER: Before we get started with this week’s episode about our thoughts on Disney’s new live action Mulan, we wanted to address the controversies surrounding the film. We understand the frustrations and concerns including the main actress, YiFei’s, comments on the Hong Kong protests/police brutality and Disney’s decision to film Xinjiang where there are active Concentration Camps. We do not in anyway condone their behavior or actions and believe that this is something that Disney needs to address directly, and we hope they do so soon out of the respect of the one million lives that are still in suffering.
With that being said, we respect everyone’s decision as to why they would or wouldn’t want to watch Mulan. This episode is meant to dissect the film based on our own love of the original animated one and the impact it has had on us as Asian Women, we hope you enjoy this episode.
    WARNING: SPOILERS
Soooo, let's talk Disney's new live action Mulan. This week, we invite our incredibly talented sister, Minji, to help us dissect the film from an industry perspective, and we have a LOT to say. Having grown up with the animated film, we each have an emotional attachment to Mulan; she was the first Disney princess who looked like us and inspired us with her courage, perseverance, and loyalty. So, how did Disney do with the live action retelling? Listen in to this week's episode! P.s. Spoilers!

candid conversations >>>>>

just listened to their first podcast and I'm already hooked! love how honest and real these ladies are about growing up Asian, working in media, having very relatable insecurities, and more. as I am almost reaching my 20's, it's comforting to know that I have this podcast of "sisters I've never had" in my day to day hustle to guide me in this weird/messy/imperfect thing called life. 💛

Pandemic and SAHM friends

During this pandemic and currently being a stay at home mom, listening to these girls feels so much less lonely and getting through some mundane days. I can definitely relate to a lot of things they talk about or gain a new perspective. Thanks 💕

Starting a conversation

I really enjoy this podcast that can be helpful for anyone because there are a variety topics that these women discuss in each of their episodes, so there should be a episode that would work for you. These women brings other podcasts host and friends to start a conversation of topics that we listener did not knew that these individuals are going through. Moreover, each episode lets their listeners know that it is fine to feel these emotions or experiences because it is tough to discuss or understand these kinds of problems. More importantly, these women start the conversation of different ways that they solved these problems and ways for us listeners to tried on our own. This podcast has been great listening to from the beginning knowing that each one of us have our own stories to tell and that none of us are perfect in any form.
