Inspirational
Cliff Ravenscraft is truly inspirational. I seem to be improving my mindset every time I listen.
Tone down the ego
Listened to just a handful of episodes and in each one, Cliff just couldn’t help himself by boosting his own ego and making others feel less than. It would probably be a good podcast otherwise, but it’s impossible to get over his superiority, it’s too bad.
Not that mindset!
I don’t know much about Cliff himself, but I’m always interested in hearing the mindsets of other successful people! Hearing about the gold in the lives of others can be a source of great inspiration… so long as we’re focusing on gold!
That said, the first episode I listened to was a successful-sounding gal who’s story was that she was “the single mom who made it against all odds”. Fantastic! How wonderful that a woman who (in my mind) had her husband walk out on her was successful anyway.
As the interview goes on, the story starts to fade from a story of success into a story of ongoing and seemingly-planned tragedy.
She starts talking about how she would have had found the man of her dreams to have 10 kids with (Yay!! Fantastic!!) and would have worked, building her dreams while she did it (I mean, I guess the “man of her dreams” would stay home with those poor kids, and everyone would miss mom, but okay… that could still be great success).
Then she starts talking about how she wants more NOW (wait … the single mom? Maybe she got married…) and that she’s looking into *embryo adoption” (😳🥺😭) and I just couldn’t listen anymore.
You know when you’re hearing some story about how innocent people are being carved up with machetes during a civil war in a remote part of the world, and a dad is found dead on top of his kids, after having tried to shield them from a murderous attacker, but was unsuccessful? It was like that, but completely avoidable.
This is success? More kids who don’t know who their parents are, growing up without parents, so you can “have more kids”? I’m all about success, but I don’t think that success and selfishness belong in the same sentence (unless you’re telling people they don’t belong in the same sentence).
I pray for the poor children who have to live this way, and I pray for their mother!! May she see that the world already has enough parentless kids, and there are orphans (see war reference above) who need her love. May her eyes be opened that she can truly see what a family is and who her children are to her, and may she see and feel — with her whole heart — their need to have a loving mother to care for their every need. 💔
