    #76: Stop Othering People {Real Talk on Racism}

This Week on Real Talk with Rachael we’re talking with Briana Stensrud and Latasha Morrison about their documentary Who Is Welcome Here. Briana Stensrud is a human dignity advocate and the Director of Welcome. Her passion is to equip the Church to engage more consistently and tangibly in holistic human dignity issues. Throughout her work in the pro-life movement, Briana continually faced questions from those concerned about immigrants and refugees. Understanding that many concerns were rooted in fear and misinformation she started a journey to re-discover God’s heart for the sojourner.
Latasha Morrison is a speaker, author of “Be the Bridge”, reconciler, bridge-builder, and leader, committed to educating people on cultural intelligence and racial literacy. She founded Be the Bridge in 2016 to encourage racial reconciliation among all ethnicities, to promote racial unity in America, and to equip others to do the same.
We're Talking About: We must each learn to see others through a “God Lens” so we can see the image of God in each person. Younger people are often the ones who suffer the most when it comes to immigration. Girls are 80 to 90% likely to be sexually assaulted on their way into North America. If we know their individual stories, we will be moved by them. Don’t forget to text the phrase “RealTalkGiveaway” to the number 44222 to be entered to win giveaways from show guests and sponsors!

We often ruminate on thoughts late into the evening, it’s best to avoid deep thinking activities right before bed. Writing the things down that we’re ruminating on can help to relieve our mind and allow us to rest. Watching the news and scrolling social media before bed can be detrimental. We all need people in our lives we can be open and authentic with. There’s a healing and restoration from being in the presence of someone who’s lifegiving to you. It’s very important to embrace silence and calm for Sensory rest. Take Dr. Saundra’s Rest Quiz to find out where you need the most help. Talk Therapy: The Holy Spirit Hustle

Talk Therapy: The Holy Spirit Hustle

Something has shifted in my spirit in the last few months and I am calling it "the holy spirit hustle". ⁣That's what we're talking about on today's talk therapy episode.

I started blogging about six years ago just because I wanted to write what God put on my heart. But somewhere along the way, I lost myself and the reason I started. I started to hustle after the things the experts told me I should be doing to grow and build.⁣

This forced rest due in our society forced me to stop listening to all the voices telling me what I should be doing and to start leaning into the voice of the holy spirit again.⁣

#74: The Power of a Woman's Words with Sharon Jaynes

#74: The Power of a Woman's Words with Sharon Jaynes

This week on Real Talk with Rachael we’re talking with Sharon Jaynes about her new book, “The Power of a Woman's Words: How the Words You Speak Shape the Lives of Others”.
For ten years Sharon served as Vice President of Proverbs 31 Ministries and co-host for their daily radio feature. She is the author of 24 books with Harvest House, Moody Publishers, Baker Books, Multnomah Publishers, and Thomas Nelson. She has also written numerous magazine articles and devotions for publications such as Focus on the Family, Extraordinary Women, Decision, Crosswalk.com, and In Touch. Sharon is a frequent guest on radio and television programs such as Revive Our Hearts with Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Family Life Today with Dennis Rainey, and Focus on the Family. Sharon currently writes for Proverbs 31 Ministries' Encouragement for Today devotions and teaches at their She Speaks conference.
    We’re talking about:
Sharon’s rough homelife let her see the power of words, both positive and negative. It’s important to speak life over your children. It’s better to build up children than repair adults. “Our words become the mirror in which other people see themselves.” Kids need to know that they’re liked, not just loved. Make sure to compliment your children’s character. Reject the lies that the devil tells and accept God’s truth about you. Whatever is in your heart will come out of your mouth. Talk Therapy: 4 Reasons to Pray Before You Speak

Talk Therapy: 4 Reasons to Pray Before You Speak

This week on Talk Therapy I'm talking about the importance of spending time in prayer before you speak. I could give you tips on how to control your tongue, but the truth is that when we haven’t spent enough time in our prayer closet, the words that come out of our mouths and heart will shock ourselves and damage others.

#73: Between Grit and Grace with Dr. Sasha Shillcutt

This week on Real Talk with Rachael, we’re talking with Dr. Sasha Shillcutt. She is the author of Between Grit and Grace: The Art of Being Feminine and Formidable, renowned Cardiac Anesthesiologist, TEDX speaker, and Founder of Brave Enough where she leads and encourages more than 10,000 female physicians.
    We’re talking about:
We can be both grace-giving or gritty, depending on what the situation needs. Being inauthentic to yourself serves no one. 30 minutes a day alone can give you time to reset and evaluate where you’re at. At the busiest time of our life, we should have friends to help us make it through. Because of the pressure to be perfect, sometimes we’re too hard on ourselves and others. “We post and project perfection because it’s safe.” We need to ask ourselves what having it all means to us.
