    #80: Laughing Through the Ugly Cry with Dawn Barton

    #80: Laughing Through the Ugly Cry with Dawn Barton

    This week on Real Talk with Rachael we’re talking with Dawn Barton, author of Laughing Through the Ugly Cry: …and Finding Unstoppable Joy. A multibillion-dollar direct sales company put Dawn on their Times Square billboard in the summer of 2018. In Dawn’s thirty years of sales and marketing, she has been a top producer at every company she’s worked for. Most recently, she was the #7 Sales Director in Mary Kay when she took a leap of faith and left it all to write her first book, Laughing Through the Ugly Cry. Dawn has been a public speaker for more than ten years, giving talks about cancer, joy, female empowerment, and direct sales. When she’s not encouraging other women to find joy and humor in even the most difficult of circumstances, you can find her living happily ever after in Cantonment, FL with her husband, daughter, parents, and mother-in-law.
    We're Talking About: Joy and pain are often intertwined because when you’re in pain is when you’re the closest to God. Dawn lost faith in God when she experienced the loss of her child, but God “courted” her over the next 10 years until she came back. Joy and peace are related as well, follow the peace when looking for the right decision. “Sometimes the thing you think you were created to do for the rest of your life is what you needed to do for the next season of your life.” Success is obedience. “God can move mountains but don’t be surprised when he throws you the shovel.” Don’t forget to text the phrase “RealTalkGiveaway” to the number 44222 to be entered to win giveaways from show guests and sponsors!

    Talk Therapy: Stay in Your Lane

    Talk Therapy: Stay in Your Lane

    This week on Talk Therapy I'm talking about the all-too-familiar trap of comparison. God created us all with a unique purpose, but so often we find ourselves looking around at everyone else and feeling inadequate. Ask yourself today if there's anything you're pursuing that God hasn't called you to.
    Hebrews 12:1 ESV, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us."

    #79: Called Out with Paula Faris

    #79: Called Out with Paula Faris

    This week on Real Talk with Rachael, we’re talking to Paula Faris, author of the new book “Called Out: Why I Traded Two Dream Jobs for a Life of True Calling”. Paula Faris is a senior national correspondent at ABC News and host of the popular podcast Journeys of Faith with Paula Faris, which gives an intimate look at how some of the world’s most influential people lean on faith and spirituality in the best and worst of times. An Emmy Award-winning journalist, Paula previously was co-anchor of the Good Morning America weekend edition, as well as a co-host of The View.
    We're talking about: We’re stuck thinking that our calling is all about our work life, but it may not be. God is looking for an obedient heart. Follow your peace. Peace comes from the Holy Spirit. God tells us to not be afraid or discouraged. Your worth isn’t your work. It’s okay to feel some fear when finding your calling. Vocational Callings have three facets: Do you love it, are you good at it, and do trusted people in your life say you’re good at it and love it. It’s a lie from society and the Devil that you can’t take a few years off to stay with your family and then go back. There are always vocational opportunities for you if you choose to go back. #78: Know Your Worth with Jessica Hottle

    #78: Know Your Worth with Jessica Hottle

    This week on Real Talk with Rachael, we’re talking with Jessica Hottle, the author of the book “Own Your Worth: Learn to Overcome Feeling Less Than and Not Good Enough”. Jessica Hottle's passion for helping others "weigh" less emotionally, physically, and spiritually. She inspires and encourages thousands by sharing her own personal struggles, victories, and journey through life. Jessica is a successful online entrepreneur and author of two best-selling books, Know Your Worth and A Worthy Wife. Along with a third book, Own Your Worth. Her passions are being a wife to her husband, Jon, being a momma to their three cats, and spending her free time outside whenever she can (playing golf, hiking, reading, or writing in her journal). Jessica has a heart that runs hard after Jesus and credits everything she has done to her Savior.
    We're talking about:
    Jessica used to judge her worth by her job, body, and men. We need to use God’s view of proper self-love for our bodies. “Everybody’s healthy looks different, but everybody needs to address Spirit, Soul, and Body to be healthy.” One of the biggest lies Jessica hears is that God wants us to be sick. God wants you well. God’s best for you is not being sick, he wants to heal you. If the first doctor didn’t heal you, get a second opinion! Our worth is not based on how many good things we can do or our feelings. #77: Living in the End Times with Donna VanLiere

    This week on Real Talk with Rachael we’re talking with Donna VanLiere, author of the new book “The Time of Jacob’s Trouble”. Donna VanLiere is a New York Times best-selling author of many books, including The Christmas Shoes and The Christmas Blessing, both of which were made into movies starring Rob Lowe, Neil Patrick Harris, and Kimberly Williams-Paisley.     We're talking about:  Jesus’ return is our blessed hope. Prophecy takes up over 27% of the Bible. The Bible has over 500 fulfilled prophecies. Even Jesus doesn’t know the time of his coming, if anyone tries to predict it, it’s false teaching. Donna has a limited series podcast called Things Are Looking Up to explain more about the end-time prophecies.     #76: Stop Othering People {Real Talk on Racism}

    #76: Stop Othering People {Real Talk on Racism}

    This Week on Real Talk with Rachael we’re talking with Briana Stensrud and Latasha Morrison about their documentary Who Is Welcome Here. Briana Stensrud is a human dignity advocate and the Director of Welcome. Her passion is to equip the Church to engage more consistently and tangibly in holistic human dignity issues. Throughout her work in the pro-life movement, Briana continually faced questions from those concerned about immigrants and refugees. Understanding that many concerns were rooted in fear and misinformation she started a journey to re-discover God’s heart for the sojourner.
    Latasha Morrison is a speaker, author of “Be the Bridge”, reconciler, bridge-builder, and leader, committed to educating people on cultural intelligence and racial literacy. She founded Be the Bridge in 2016 to encourage racial reconciliation among all ethnicities, to promote racial unity in America, and to equip others to do the same.
    We're Talking About: We must each learn to see others through a “God Lens” so we can see the image of God in each person. Younger people are often the ones who suffer the most when it comes to immigration. Girls are 80 to 90% likely to be sexually assaulted on their way into North America. If we know their individual stories, we will be moved by them. Don’t forget to text the phrase “RealTalkGiveaway” to the number 44222 to be entered to win giveaways from show guests and sponsors!
