"I can't deal with that right now."
Do you ever feel like you are playing a constant game of “whack-a-mole?” Would you like to be focused on your vision, mission, and core values but there are so many issues popping up right now that you find yourself saying “I can’t deal with that right now?” If so, you may be suffering from a phenomenon called “tunneling.” Tunneling is where you feel like you don’t have the time, energy, bandwidth, or resources to deal with your problems right now, so you just focus on what’s right in front of you. While this might seem like a prudent, even natural response to the stresses you’re facing right now, tunneling is a trap. Tune in to today’s episode to find out why tunneling is a trap and how you can escape the tunnel #LikeABuilder.
This one question changes everything
Over the years, we've grown used to certain circumstances -- whether those circumstances are uncooperative parents, disengaged students, lagging test scores, contentment with the status quo, resistant teachers, or a school stuck at good but unable to cross over to "great." But what if I told you that you don't have to accept your circumstances? What if I told you that you could rewrite your school story regardless of what you're facing right now? In today's episode, you'll discover the ONE question that can be the catalyst for rewriting your school story. In fact, this ONE question has helped school leaders go from 43% proficiency in reading to 100% proficiency in reading by grade 3, 65% gradutation rates to over 95% graduation rates in just 3 years, and from a toxic school culture to a healthy school culture in just one school year. If you're ready to change your school story in spite of your current reality, then you'll want to ask yourself this question and rewrite your school story #LikeABuilder.
5 Lies You Learned About Leadership
Over the years, most of us were trained to be leaders. We followed what we were told made "good" leaders and dutifully applied what we were trained to do, only to meet with frustration when our training didn't deliver the results we thought we should be seeing. Many of us blame ourselves and look for even more leadership strategies hoping something will work. But the truth is, those strategies aren't working because they are based on lies we've been told about leadership. So if you're frustrated that the leadership strategies you've been taught aren't working the way you expected, maybe it isn't you after all. Today, we're pulling the curtain back from those lies and exposing the truth #LikeABuilder
What's your school brand?
Your school "brand" is not your logo, colors, or tagline. Your brand is how people perceive their experience with you. It's what people say about you behind your back. On today's episode, we take a deep dive into what comprises your school brand and the exact things you need to do to build a strong brand. You'll also discover the difference between your external brand and your internal brand and why you need to work on your internal brand first. While it may seem like a "nice-to-have," a strong school brand is integral for establishing trust and credibility among your staff and with the students and families you serve. I tried to listen to these podcasts, and I want to learn and grow more in these topics. However, she is constantly promoting her builder’s lab. I feel like I’m listening to marketing efforts more than I’m actually growing within these topics.
Content great! Promoting summer builders lab...too much.
Great content that is relevant to my leadership experience. This podcast causes me to think critically and apply what is taught to practice. Please stop continually promoting builders lab. I would be more engaged and listen more if this wasn’t constantly brought up for extended amounts of time.
