A History of Art for Beginners and Students: Painting, Sculpture, Architecture
As you get ready to sleep tonight, find yourself engrossed in the stories of some of the great Florentine master of renaissance art. We pick up the story of the great Leonardo Da Vinci and he moves from patron to patron.
Then as you doze off in your bed we move on to the cranky Michealangelo who denied his families desires of going into the trades to follow the muse.
Then we finish up with a few lesser known artists, but you will be well asleep before then.

The Republic by Plato - Sleepy Philosophy
The Republic by Plato
Philosophy seems the ideal thing to listen to to help you sleep. I recorded this in the middle of the day and completely zoned out and nearly dozed off so I can barely tell you what the conversation between Socrates and his friends was about.
So I’m confident that the discussion of whether God can create evil, whether children should learn from false fables and ummmm, other stuff will help sleep come for you as quickly as you’d hope.

Bedtime Philosophy to help You Sleep - Stories for all ages
The ethics of rhetoric by Richard M. Weaver
Ever wondered about the differences between rhetoric and dialectic? Or the moral obligations of the rhetorician? Probably not, and I’m not sure if you will learn anything here because this is truly the most boring thing to read to you at bed time.
I make very few guarantees, but this *will* help you sleep.

Customer Reviews
I’m conflicted
I’ve listened to a few episodes and really like the reader’s voice and speed. Calming topics combined with classic works are just right because the older language is complex enough to distract the mind. I really like that. The 7 minute intro, however, I am not a fan of at all. It would be lovely if there was one intro episode and the sleep stories were free of all that repetitive chatter. If I create a playlist of episodes, like you suggest in the intro, I will be dreading the 7 minutes at the beginning of each episode reminding me that I’m still not asleep. I wish this could be corrected because this podcast is just wonderful otherwise. Took off only one star for this complaint, even though I think it’s a pretty significant drawback.
Fantastic combination
Unlike many sleep podcasts Dave chooses unique, historical content and his voice somehow seems melodiously monotonous. Thank you so much!
The talent is good.
Voice, style, pace, content all great! Sound quality not so much. I cannot listen through blue tooth speaker it sounds muddled becomes in decipherable. I can only listen through my phone speaker which is not always loud enough for me. The long intro is a bit much. Just briefly say the podcast relies on listeners and list the site or sites where they can contribute and move on. I know it’s got to be financed but the manner is a bit much. I am a fan of the podcast though I do like it. I do go to sleep much easier. Thank You.
