We drink alcohol to escape our reality.
We use drugs to escape our reality.
I explore the trauma and mental health problems that are the reasons for that need to escape.
In this podcast, I interview guests that have gone through hell and back but kept going. In turn, they have transformed into human beings who love themselves, warts and all. Let me share with you how we manage to live a life that most of us could not even dream of in the midst of our trauma.
The past does not equal the future. Every second gives you a new opportunity for change, and only you determine the right direction in your life.

435 Lolita Guarin: Unlocking Healing - Three Don'ts When Dealing with Childhood Trauma and Addiction

435 Lolita Guarin: Unlocking Healing - Three Don'ts When Dealing with Childhood Trauma and Addiction

In Lolita's words: When I arrived in the US two decades ago, fueled by the ambition to build my American dream, I believed in the limitless possibilities. Juggling fifty-hour work weeks, I eagerly took on projects and additional responsibilities to prove my capability. Fearful of saying no to coworkers, I found myself overworked, eventually succumbing to burnout. My exercise routine consisted of brief breaks away from my desk, while my diet relied on unhealthy office snacks. One pivotal mistake, born from burnout and workaholism, forced me to reevaluate my lifestyle. A collapse on my kitchen floor led to a simple diagnosis: stress. Seeking natural stress management solutions, I embraced improved time management, learned to decline additional burdens, adopted a healthier diet, and incorporated exercise. However, despite these positive changes, I felt that something essential was missing. The missing piece revealed itself when I stumbled upon a business book authored by someone who identified as an adult child of an alcoholic. It struck a chord because my own father struggled with alcoholism. This realization illuminated the profound impact it had on my stress management strategies compared to those from more stable backgrounds. I understood that while well-known techniques like meditation and yoga provided relief, addressing the underlying childhood trauma wound was crucial. The capacity to manage stress not only influences our behavior in the workplace but also shapes our friendships, intimate relationships, overall outlook on life, and the pursuit of goals Armed with the knowledge of healing and navigating stress, I am now fervently dedicated to helping others do the same.
