A Decade of Family Memories at the River with "Big Brother" Dwayne Baker Stories from the River

    • Education

Dwayne Baker, Home Furnishings Expert and Sales Manager joins Charlie for another inspiring episode of Stories from the River podcast. Dwayne shares some of his history prior to coming to the River as he spent 20 years in the retail banking industry and opens up about his initial struggles during his first year in sales.

After enduring that first transitional year and building his client base by taking a mindset of serving his guests and recognizing that Broad River was committed to reinvesting back into its business, he continued to grow and prosper. Dwayne began to be recognized for his success by the Company. In 2017, he was in the inaugural class of Home Furnishings Experts, becoming one of only four top producers to get promoted to this elite level and designation (which earned him his own parking spot in front of the store). And, then after 5+ years in sales at the River, Dwayne had his best year in 2018 when he joined the Million Dollar Memory Maker club for the first time, which was a very proud achievement for him.

He has continued that success each year with repeat Million Dollar performances despite adversity, such as the year of his store's massive remodel and renovation in 2019 as well as the pandemic in 2020 and 2021.

Throughout this episode, Dwayne talks about family - the family environment he has within the culture at the River (including not only within his own store but throughout the entire Company) and the importance of family in his personal life. Having fun, serving his guests, taking care of his family, having strong faith, always planning for success, and having that daily discipline of gratefulness with a positive mindset all contribute to who Dwayne is and how he achieves consistent success on the salesfloor.

For Dwayne, it's not even work. He loves what he does and has fun. Listen to this episode and Dwayne's story is sure to inspire you to achieve your own goals and realize success.
