HBCU Baseball Alumni Brandon Rembert is Charting a New Path Through MLB Scouting

HBCU Baseball Alumni Brandon Rembert is Charting a New Path Through MLB Scouting

One opinion I often hear is that MLB teams need more young Black people in their front office. That is true, but the path to getting into a position as an MLB Front Office Executive is tricky. Those future GMs may have grind at levels they didn't even know existed.
Brandon Rembert is one of those future GMs currently out on the grind. Brandon is a development scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates. At 25, he has taken control of his career and is working to put himself off the road and in an MLB Front office someday.
On this episode of the Black Baseball Mixtape Podcast, I (Cheats) chop it up with Brandon and discuss his path to the Pirates organization, his love for the game, and his playing career. I think you will find Brandon insightful, knowledgeable, and entertaining. I'm sure you will enjoy this conversation.

From Vegas Little League to the Pros Donta' Williams is Fireworks

From Vegas Little League to the Pros Donta' Williams is Fireworks

I spoke with Donta' Williams of the Bowie Baysox on this Black Baseball Mixtape podcast episode. Donta' is a Las Vegas native. He played college baseball at the University of Arizona and was a 4th Round draft pick of the O's in 2021.
Donta and I talk about his personal journey to pro ball and the importance of a strong foundation in the game. Donta' had excellent leadership from his youth coach, Coach Ceasar in Vegas, and his family. Without that leadership, he would not be where he is today.
He also shares his love for a VA natvie in Jackie Bradley Jr. Being from VA myself, I love to hear that.
This episode is filled with authentic conversation and support. It should be shared with every young player who dreams of making the pros but has been doubted along the way.

The Lineage and Legacy of Black Bay Area Baseball is Alive in Daniel "Jet" Johnson (Norfolk Tides)

The Lineage and Legacy of Black Bay Area Baseball is Alive in Daniel "Jet" Johnson (Norfolk Tides)

Daniel "Jet" Johnson is a veteran in the stacked Orioles farm system. The Bay Area native continues a legacy of Black ball players, including Frank Robinson, Joe Morgan, Dave Stewart, Rickey Henderson, Curt Flood, Jimmy Rollins, CC Sabathia, and many more who claim the Oakland area home.
In this episode, I chat briefly with DJ about his childhood journey and how he stays focused in a loaded farm system.

Can't miss for baseball lovers

BBM is an essential pod for baseball fans, but is just as good for people who just enjoy great stories and interviews. One of my favorites

We been here!!!

Absolutely love this podcast, the discord and IG content created by BBM. Outside of my family, it has been so hard to find other black people that watch/listen/enjoy baseball like I do and this podcast has given me a way to connect with other fans of the sport. There really is no other podcast like it. Black Baseball Mixtape highlights the past, the present and the future of the black ballplayer proving again and again that WE BEEN HERE all along🖤

Listen

If you love baseball, this is a show for you. Each time I listen, I learn something new about the game, not just the physical side, but mental as well. My favorite episodes are young player interviews. It’s good to learn about the prospects of the future and see what people are doing to get there.
