    JuJutsu & Genomics. An Interview with Thomas Crooks from Kumataka Dojos

    Welcome to the second edition of The Caveman Condition Podcast. Today we  interview Thomas Crooks where the topics range from JuJutsu to  genomics. 

    Thomas Crooks started his martial arts training under Peter Williams in  1992 at his dojo in Epping, Sydney. He is very fortunate to be a direct  student of the Sosuishi-ryu Jujutsu 16th Headmaster, Shitama Manzo  Sensei, Dai Shihan. Sosuishi-ryu Jujutsu is a 370 year old familial  jujutsu ryuha, founded in 1650.

    In October 2016 he and Peter Williams were appointed as representatives  of the Sosuishi-ryu Jujutsu Kai in Australia. They established Kumataka  Dojos in 2017, where judo, jujutsu and Okinawan karate are taught.

    Thomas holds the teaching title of Kyoshi in Sosuishi-ryu Jujutsu,  conferred on him by Shitama Manzo Sensei in 2018. He opened his own dojo  in Bayswater, Perth, WA in 2016. Along with Peter Williams, he leads  ongoing training visits to Japan.

    Trained as an acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, Thomas worked in  private practice for just under 10 years. More recently he moved into  academia and is the Senior Lecturer in Social Sciences at Endeavour  College of Natural Health in Perth.

    Welcome to our first addition of The Cavemen Condition Podcast.  

    Today we interview Tai Chi instructor, Paul McIntyre, from Heaven Man Earth Melbourne.  

    Paul McIntyre is the resident instructor at Heaven Man Earth Internal Arts International - Melbourne branch school.  Paul’s experience in various martial arts, nei gong, qi gong and meditation spans decades. Beginning as a child in Australia, his practice has since taken him throughout much of Asia in pursuit of authentic teachings.  Paul learned taiji (tai chi) & qigong, natural fist boxing and muay-thai under the guidance of esteemed fight trainer Tao Jaiphet (Absolute MMA) for 7 years. 

    In 2006 Paul received the rank of 1st degree black belt in Daito ryu aiki jujitsu when living in Kobe city, Japan.  Since 2007, Paul has trained exclusively under the Heaven Man Earth system and has undertaken extensive periods of private tuition and live-in practice with Sifu Adam Mizner to deepen and refine his understanding and skill of the entire HME system including taiji, nei gong, meditation, dhamma & healing.  

     Paul is a direct disciple of Heaven Man Earth founder Sifu Adam Mizner and certified level 2 instructor of the HME Internal Arts International system.
