Do you guys ever wonder what it’s like on the other side of social media?  The people who run massive media accounts and the business side of social media.  Big media so say.  I wonder about it all the time, and today I have here with me someone who was on the other side of social media, and then came on over to the advocate side to fight FOR kids.  Nicki Reisberg is simply a concerned mom who is bridging the gap between other parents and experts in the space. She works to make the research, stories and expertise more available to parents so they can make more informed decisions around screens and social media.  She was previously a social media manager for over a decade and flipped the script to work on the good side of social.

It is always a pleasure whenever we can get an expert from the medical community to talk about screens, social media, and the dangers they can pose to kids.  It’s also nice when they can tell us some solutions.  Michael Rich, MD, MPH is an associate professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and practices adolescent medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. Pediatrician, child health researcher, father, and filmmaker, Dr. Rich is the founder and director of the Digital Wellness Lab and the first evidence-based medical program addressing physical, mental, and social health issues associated with digital technology use, the Clinic for Interactive Media and Internet Disorders (CIMAID). As the Mediatrician, Dr. Rich offers research-based, actionable, and practical answers to parents’, educators’, and clinicians’ questions about children’s and adolescents’ media use and the positive and negative implications for their health and development.

So many  insta influencers only share the shiny glammer of life.  SO many influencers seem so fake, so it is REALLY refreshing when the occasional genuine star comes along to help normalize the messy hot mess that is real life.  Everyone meet my friend Nikki . Nicki Marie is a single mama / co-parent who accidentally became an internet “stah” (accent is a must here lol) when sharing real life, in the moment snippets of motherhood during the pandemic. Since, she has become known as an internet BFF by sharing truths, humor and unapologetic imperfections.
