Choose Patience: How to Find Peace Amid Insanity

Sometimes living with kids can be insane, and we all have those times when we lose our temper. But we do have the ability to choose patience, and it’s up to us to show our kids what it means to be in control of our behavior. Learning how to choose patience can help us find chaos amid the insanity in any situation.
In this short episode, I talk about what we can do mentally and emotionally as fathers to pause, reflect, and create space between reaction and response.

Covid-19: How to Protect and Lead Your Family Through Crisis with Retired Navy SEAL Jason Redman

Covid-19 has put us into a situation that we have never experienced before, and we’re unprepared as fathers. Fear, anxiety, and stress can wear on us. Our spouses and children are struggling to adjust as we are confined to our homes. The challenge for us as the leaders of our households is to learn how to best protect and lead our families through this pandemic.
Jason Redman is back on The Dad Edge for this crucial episode. He is a retired Navy SEAL and author of The Trident: The Forging and Reforging of a Navy Seal Officer and Overcome: Crush Adversity with the Leadership Techniques of America's Toughest Warriors. He is a husband, a father of three, and now teaches people from every walk of life how to overcome any “life ambush” they may face.
These unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures. Jason tells fathers what we need to do mentally, emotionally, physically to show up as the best leaders for our families and communities. He tells us how to be honest and realistic with our kids about what’s going on in the world while keeping them calm, productive, and at ease. He gives us a list on how to prepare for the worst while hoping for the best, making sure we choose positivity over negativity in everything we do.
This is a handbook for every dad on how to best protect and lead your family through crisis.

The Unbelievable Power of Sharing Your Story

The Unbelievable Power of Sharing Your Story

Men are acutely aware of their mistakes and shortcomings. Rarely do we pay attention to our strengths and contributions. We don’t realize how much we have to give if we would just open up. Today we talk about the unbelievable power of sharing your story.
We interview new Dad Edge Alliance member, Tommy Morgan. He’s been married for ten years and has an 8-year-old son. Tommy’s marriage was going downhill fast, and the lack of control he felt over his life made him easily triggered to anger and rage.
Fast forward a few months, and Tommy’s relationships with his wife and son are growing. He’s made a commitment to self-care and is happier and hopeful. He talks about how hearing the experiences and wisdom of other men helped him to surmount his struggle, and how passing along his story has changed the lives of those who hear it.

For the man who wants to do better

I started listening to this when I was going thru a really hard time. The encouragement I found listening to this podcast has really helped me see life in a different perspective and really show up for my son in ways I wouldn’t have even thought of without this show. Thanks for inspiring me to do better even if it’s just a little bit at a time!
