Listener for years

One of the very first podcasts I started listening around 2010. The current lineup of hosts is great and they all have quite a lot of charisma. The current iteration is definitely less a deep dive of film discussion and more a recap of social media, popularity, and rotten tomatoes scores. You won’t find the hosts, particularly Dave and Jeff, with much of a reaction towards a film that is different from the consensus. Jeff, particularly, focuses way too much on the negatives and derides fans of movies he isn’t. But the chit chat in between is top notch and so entertaining.

Wonderful Film Podcast!

I love listening to The /Filmcast to debrief about my feelings and thoughts about the latest movies. They also provide great tips on what to catch on tv and film on the “what we’ve been watching” segment of the podcasts. The passion David, Devindra, and Jeff have for film is obvious and it is a delight to hear their insight on how movies connect with them in their lives personally. I always look forward to their summer movie wager episode and top ten movies of the year episode. I highly recommend subscribing to this podcast!

Finally Unsubscribing

Been listening for years and the three hosts seem like great guys with terrific chemistry and a passion for movies but they are steeped in the bubble of lazy internet movie criticism. If you want a representation of what Twitter likely thinks about any given movie, the Internet’s conventional hot takes on cinema, or movie discussion that often starts with meta-information about box office results or irrelevant behind-the-scenes info, you’ll get it here. If you want unique, surprising, and insightful takes on movies, look elsewhere. Also, the podcast frequently descends into annoying, self-indulgent nonsense with limericks and cutesy and painful transitions into ads.
