Shows great is not only possible, it’s been done for 100 years

The vast majority of Americans want more choices of parties, and parties that have to compete to serve them. They want everyone to be represented reflecting the diversity of opinions that Americans hold. They don’t want a government run by a group of politicians that no voters like. George and Colin pull back the curtain on one of the world’s best kept secrets — Irelands election system, the history of how and why it came to be, and how it’s working to remedy longtime problems and satisfy modern Ireland’s needs. What’s extra special about this is the parallels between Ireland’s history of colonialism and racial (religious) oppression, polarization, and the United States past and present. It gives real hope! It worked for them, and it could work for us Americans, too. Better is possible.
Bold and perfectly timed

Perfectly timed as we head into 2025. Bold, with both deep stories, profound ideas, and international comparisons. With “America at 250” around the corner, it is electoral systems like those described in this podcast that can invigorate our thinking for the future of our nation.
Very Informative!

This show is great on so many levels… a great “history” lesson (1998 was not that long ago!); a chance to learn from others - both their failures and their successes but most importantly a reminder that we are not the only country trying to figure out how to make things more perfect!
Good for post-election healing (including for young people)

If you feel like you’re drowning post-election this podcasts is a good listen. It connects the dots between polarization and the way our electoral systems work and could actually be reformed. I shared it with my teen - our guppies need swimming lessons to survive these times (you’ll get the water references after seeing episode 1)!
