EP128: How Therapeutic Mindfulness Can Heal You with Ruth

EP128: How Therapeutic Mindfulness Can Heal You with Ruth

Ruth Fearnow's first book, Therapeutic Mindfulness, is a synthesis of her decades-long meditation practice and her work as a trauma-focused therapist. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) practitioner, she has identified and embedded the factors necessary for healing into therapeutic mindfulness, a skill to facilitate one's healing journey. Ruth's private journey began as a young woman when she found herself studying Kungfu and qigong in Dengfeng City, China, the home of the famous Shaolin Temple. It was there she began a serious meditation practice. While this skill takes years to develop, this was her first big step to understanding mindfulness practices. Ruth's evolution into a trauma therapist has enabled her to integrate age-old wisdom with trauma-informed insight. As a result, she has developed healing philosophies and the process of therapeutic mindfulness which she practices personally, and teaches to her clientele, many of whom use it on their own. Therapeutic mindfulness has now been adopted for professional use by colleagues in the mental health field. Dealing with feelings directly is transformational and Therapeutic Mindfulness shows us how to do so. Ruth feels it is time to spread the word on a wide scale.

EP127: Overcoming the Horrors of Human Trafficking with Amanda

Amanda Blackwood wears; author, public speaker, podcast host, artist, survivor; but ultimately, she’s a woman who transformed her trauma into resilience and strength.

When Amanda finally managed to get away from the man who was trafficking her, she was thirty-one years old and didn’t know what she’d gone through even had a name, much less how to deal with the pain of feeling like a broken person, unworthy of love and filled with so much anger. On a freezing cold day in 2018 she saw former trafficked people standing strong and showing their beautiful resiliency on a stage at an anti-trafficking event. At that moment she finally knew what her purpose in life would be. Since then, Amanda has spoken on a multitude of stages, international summits, radio programs, and had over a dozen books. She launched two podcasts-one that focuses on interviewing other authors of trauma, and the other that discusses the long-term consequences of trauma and how to fight back for a better life. EP126: Transforming Traumatic Experience Into Peace with Susan

EP126: Transforming Traumatic Experience Into Peace with Susan

Susan Gold was raised in a challenging and chaotic family system, the middle child of five. To fully thrive, she bravely chose to meet the demons of her upbringing that were continuing to repeat. Her book, "Toxic Family: Transforming Childhood Trauma into Adult Freedom" is about that journey.

Professionally, Susan became known for attaching celebrity talent to projects in NYC which led her to produce for television and film and on to Los Angeles. She convinced modern art legend Andy Warhol to do an on-camera commercial for Pontiac, a talent deal American TV personality Donny Deutsch still claims as one of his best, helped launch Fox News Channel at the request of Chair , Roger Ailes, and on behalf of Disney Channel persuaded A-list celebrities including Ben Stiller , Jack Susan Gold.pdf Black, Taylor Swift, David Beckham and more to be interviewed by cartoon characters...Phineas & Ferb.

Susan is a decorated endurance athlete competing in three marathons, and dozens of triathlons and has the distinction of finishing third in her age group at the treacherous Escape from Alcatraz event.

After living with force on both coasts of the United States, Susan heeded an intuitive call for a quieter life and now resides in the northwest corner of the mystical state of Montana with her beloved partner and their pets. Keen on leaving a legacy to help others heal from challenges she’ s successfully met, Toxic Family: Transforming Childhood Trauma into Adult Freedom, is part of that quest. With the same magic Susan created in her entertainment career, she is now leading retreats, webinars, workshops and private sessions to help others drop outdated storylines and programming in exchange for living from the heart in authentic freedom as adults.

Supporting homeless animals, especially dogs, and cats, and helping others up the ladder are her joys. Her pride is her son, a political science major at the University of the Pacific.
