A Holistic Mentor's Journey : Sharing Her Pathway to Mind-Body Harmony With Edit B. Kiss

A Holistic Mentor's Journey : Sharing Her Pathway to Mind-Body Harmony With Edit B. Kiss

Jan is joined by Edit B Kiss a holistic mentor, success habit coach, #1 best selling author, Humanitarian Award winner and international speaker. She works with clients on releasing long-lasting pains, blockages, ancestor defects and emotional traumas so they could live fulfilled and joyful lives. Edit originally was a petroleum engineer, working in the petroleum industry for 15 years before being a life-coach full time. During those years she trained to become a Reiki Master, a Sekhem Healer and a Karma Yogi Practitioner under the teaching of Karma Guru Sumant Kaul; strengthened her extra senses; and worked on several family constellation therapies. She learned life-coaching from the Satori Prime brothers (who base their work on Landmark approaches) and was trained by Bob Proctor, who is known for his appearance as a featured expert in the movie, The Secret. Edit came to this work after years of suffering silently with panic attacks and realized that she needed a new approach to healing.  She began her journey when she visited a Reiki Master and discovered that this was her path in life and trained to become a full time Holistic Mentor. Edit stresses the need to take time for meditation, mindfulness, and other self-care practices. Healing is a personal responsibility.

    Word of the Month: Peace

In this series, Jan selects a word for each month to focus on, aiming to foster growth and challenge herself and her audience. This month, the focus is on "Peace." Drawing from "40 Ways to Create Peace of Mind" by Lori Deschene of Tiny Buddha, Jan explores various strategies to cultivate peace in daily life. She starts by sharing her practical tips for setting peace as a goal and making necessary life changes. Jan candidly discusses her personal struggles and journey toward finding peace through chaos and setbacks. She highlights the benefits of mindful walks and guided meditations in her quest for inner peace. Being passionate about the arts, Jan explores how activities like journaling, collaging, singing, and acting contribute to her peace of mind during challenging times. She introduces a healing technique involving writing down and burning negative experiences to release trauma-associated pain, a practice she often incorporates into retreats. Jan encourages her listeners to engage in service activities and prioritize self-acceptance and self-care by setting boundaries and using positive affirmations.

[Content Warning]: Suicide Attempts, Interpersonal Violence, Rape, Institutional Abuse, Threats of Violence, Exploitation of a Minor, Attempted Trafficking.

In our last two episodes with Cheryl Hall, Cheryl tells us her daughter’s harrowing story of abuse, rape, attempted trafficking, and suicide attempts. Jan and Cheryl spoke about how social media impacts teens and the challenges of monitoring their online behavior as well as what airports are doing to prevent human trafficking. In this episode, Jan and Cheryl focus on issues that were not previously discussed;  including the lack of sufficient and suitable mental health facilities for teens, what enthusiastic consent is and how we can teach it to our children, and the negative impact of purity culture, particularly on children who are neurodivergent. They emphasize the importance of creating safe communication channels between you and your child and your child and authority figures. Jan and Cheryl discuss purity culture, the patriarchy, and vertical morality, and their consequences on individuals' mental health and self-perception. They explore the importance of horizontal morality and personal autonomy, as well as the abuse of power in religious institutions. The concept of enthusiastic consent is stressed as a crucial aspect of healthy relationships. The conversation also emphasizes the need for accessible and trauma-informed mental health care, as well as addressing bullying and abuse in educational settings. The overall theme is protecting survivors and advocating for their well-being. Healing Trauma Through Functional Medicine : A Holistic Approach With Kerry Jenkins

Healing Trauma Through Functional Medicine : A Holistic Approach With Kerry Jenkins

Today, Jan is joined by Kerry Jenkins, a Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) in Florida who graduated from Nova Southeastern University in 2000 and received her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska in 2007. Kerry discovered Functional/Integrative medicine when a family member began having chronic digestive concerns. She quickly realized that this was the type of medicine that she would be excited to practice! Kerry was certified through the Institute of Functional Medicine.  Kerry believes every patient has a story and through story sharing we gather details to map out the history and implement a plan for true healing. Her practice, Whisper Health, was created to offer patients a more holistic approach to healing/managing their chronic conditions

In today’s conversation, Jan and Kerry talk about the link between trauma and health. They discuss the importance of having a clinician who actively listens and validates patients at the initial step in the healing process. Kerry explains the impact of trauma on the mind, body, and spirit and shares insights into how she creates a healing plan with patients. The conversation stresses the significance of creating a holistic healing approach; advocating for the inclusion of other clinicians in the healing plan. Kerry explains how accessing the vagus nerve through simple techniques can promote relaxation and healing.  Lastly, she introduces her upcoming program, the Get Your Sass Back Program, which focuses on empowering women with polycystic ovarian syndrome to reclaim their health.

CPTSD survivor

Thank you so much for everything you do to help survivors. I have been trying to find a community in social media since Twitter began. For awhile when Metoo & Harvey arrived I found it. Didn’t last long. Your Voice on the podcast What Came Next made me cry for hours. I am a 55yr old survivor of CSA at the hands of my father from age 5 is my first memory 2 is what he confessed to in a stack of papers he wrote to the judge thinking it would “explain” why he was not responsible for a crime that was also committed against him. I sat in that court room at 32yrs of age. Sitting next to me was his last victim & her little brother. Ages 5, 3. My father confessed to CSA Rape going back to Vietnam when he was in the Army. Including but not in his confession my 2 little brothers, 3 cousins, my neighbor friends. The most devastating for me My brothers 2 children. I tried to stop my sister in law from letting my father live with them. Thankfully the Judge was a good guy. My father was sentenced to life no parole no outside contact. I have been in therapy since I was 17. I have many gaps in my memory. But I keep moving forward with trauma because I refuse to let it get me. GROOMING is a hideous MONSTER so many people don’t realize & hearing your family’s story, your story, I don’t know how to thank you for sharing it. You are a true Heroine 🦋 LM
