Deep Pain and the Surrender to Self-Compassion

Deep Pain and the Surrender to Self-Compassion

Ground down and breathe deep because this one hits hard. In this episode, Breena explores the many ways we are subject to pain, but also how we have the innate ability to self-soothe. How we are both the observer and the one experiencing all that life is serving us. And while all we want is to escape the moment, by accepting it's happening, we give ourselves more space to breathe,  to release control, and to move forward with clarity. This space is what we surrender to in our practice. It is how we continue to return home to ourselves.

This episode includes a self-compassion meditation, honoring both the part suffering within us, and the one who knows how to comfort.

    On Surrendering —
I want to crawl out of my skin and into a tree. I want to surrender to what does not speak. I am tired of quick talk making choices. I want to give it back. To a wordless rhythm that knows what stays and what must go.

Being the Observer through Difficult Times

Being the Observer through Difficult Times

Within each of us is the observer, the kind and compassionate witness to our own experience. Although it may be difficult to access this part of ourselves, it is always there waiting for us to arrive.

In this episode, Breena shares how it's been to be the observer of her own experience through a cancer diagnosis and awaiting treatment. And while we all may be going through different modes of suffering, the yearning to feel safe, to be healthy, and to be loved is the same. And it's within this connection that we can help each other through those difficult times. Because when it all may be too much and we may not be able to access our own inner observer, we can be the loving witness for each other.

Join Breena in this exploration in how to listen to your inner observer and enjoy the centering meditation in this episode.

    Let Yourself Be Moved

    Let Yourself Be Moved

"I have walked down the hallway of grief and opened many doors."

How do you let life move you?
In this episode, Breena explores the topics of grief, dance, inner archetypes, and how to let life move you in a way that is healing. As we grow up, we are taught - for generations - that emotions are meant to be controlled and tucked away. But each time we touch something painful, we are being invited to go deeper, to let life move us. And as we continue to meet these emotions where they are, we enter difficult experiences with more ease and understanding.

Each episode is intended to be an offering of peace and healing. Feel free to make this your own and take time to step away from the busyness and use this listening as a nourishment practice for yourself.

OCTOBER MOON CLUB - Archetypal Play - Starts Oct 5
We will be exploring the theme of our inner archetypes. We'll call in the wisdom of Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, and other great minds who teach us how archetypes are not only housed within the great stories we read, but also how they connect us to each other and the soul that came here to make the world its playground. Whether they are archetypes buried in the corners of your heart, ready to be released, or they are right on the edge of your skin, we are here to explore and play and engage with the magic of archetypal embodiment and understanding. Let's go!

Uncertainty - Allowing It All to Belong

Uncertainty - Allowing It All to Belong

In this episode, Breena explores the theme of UNCERTAINTY through her own experience of a recent and unexpected breast cancer diagnosis. She shares her story and explores ways we can all cope with uncertainty through compassion and presence. Listen as she reads from Pema Chödrön's book, When Things Fall Apart, and uncovers her own insight during this particularly uncertain time.  Be sure to stick around for a nourishing mindful self-compassion meditation at the end.

"Things falling apart is a kind of testing and also a kind of healing. We think that the point is to pass the test or to overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don't really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then the come together again and fall apart again. It's just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy." - Pema Chödrön, When Things Fall Apart

In this episode, Breena explores the middle space of transformation, why we resist it and some ways to move through it with compassion. If you are in the throes of transformation right now, or anticipate a big change coming, this is perfect for you. Or if you want to know ways to support others going through major transformation. Find a comfortable seat, take a deep breath, and dive into this talk and meditation with Breena.
