Episode 59: You are Not Damaged Goods

Episode 59: You are Not Damaged Goods

Alex and Amanda explore the prominent, yet sometimes hidden (and very painful) story that we have been damaged by circumstances of our life and we must work to fix ourselves.

“The secret is that you are already a completely whole, perfect person. You are not damaged goods, you are not incomplete, you are not flawed, you are not unfinished, you do not need remodeling, fixing, polishing or major rehabilitation. You already have within you everything you need to live a wonderful life. You have common sense, wisdom, genius creativity, humor, self esteem...you are pure potential...you are missing nothing.”

In this episode, Alex and Amanda explore our relationship with certainty and how feeling secure in our knowledge can sometimes be painful. Certainty can exclude possibilities from arising.

Can anything in life really be described as: fixed, settled, dependable, reliable, inevitable, detined, indisputable?

“It's what we think we know that keeps us from learning.”

    ― Claude Bernard

"Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd."Voltaire

Tao Te Ching – Verse 48

    In pursuit of knowledge,
    every day something is added.
In the practice of the Tao,
    every day something is dropped.
Less and less do you need to force things,
until finally you arrive at non-action.
    When nothing is done,
    nothing is left undone.

What is waiting? What is this sense of time standing still, on hold for a decision? Is there anything in nature that waits or rushes?
Are conclusions and decisions necessary for the movement of life to occur?

“If you are bewitched by the clock you will therefore have no present. “Now” will be no more than the geometrical point at which the future becomes the past. But if you sense and feel the world materially, you will discover that there never is, or was, or will be anything except the present.”
    Alan Watts

“How did it get so late so soon? It's night before it's afternoon. December is here before it's June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?”

"The world is your kaleidoscope, and the varying combinations of colours, which at every succeeding moment it presents to you, are the exquisitely adjusted pictures of your ever-moving thoughts." -James Allen

Listen in as we explore the kaleidoscope metaphor. This can be a useful concept to start to understand the phenomena of our seemingly shifting experiences. What happens when the I is also included in the shifting colors and shapes?

Magic

This podcast with Amanda and Alex is truly a gorgeous and delightful dive down a rabbit hole … or magic carpet ride through a Star Gate … into realms of areas and topics we always seem to sense but can never quite grip in our ordinary mind states. In this true Wonder Land that Amanda and Alex weave as they chat, we get to explore and tangibly grok possibilities and potentialities, and experience interdimensional understandings. I don’t know how they do it, but it is sweet, simple, delicious and fun … and total magic! 😊

Wet strawberries & Confectioners Sugar

This podcast! It’s sooooo freeing and eye opening and heart softening. The conversations go in a back door of the mind to approach ideas from a very different place. It takes me into the kitchen where everything is created and all ingredients seem to be found. And the curiosity and considerations shake things up, sift and shift and melt all concepts. Like pouring confectioners sugar into one of those old beat up metal sifters. The conversations move that handle of the mind back and forth and those big old clumps and lumps are broken apart gently and come out the bottom of the sieve, falling like a fine soft snow of confectioners sugar that melts on a wet strawberry and disappears in the taste of life.

This transformation, the sifting and shifting and melting cannot be forced or coerced only happens like magic. The Wonder Land is magic. It sifts and shifts and melts.

Absolutely Brilliant!!

I cannot say enough about this brilliant podcast with Amanda and Alex! Each episode allows my mind to fall to the background so that the most magical space of pure curiosity and delight can come to the foreground. I’m that space, this world of duality and form shimmer and sparkle and melt like a watercolor painting in a rain storm. I hear something fresh in every episode as these two beautiful ladies take me on a journey through the Wonderland. It’s a fascinating, topsy-turvy ride. I highly recommend it!!!
