The Curbsiders Teach

Curbsiders Teach is THE internal medicine podcast for all things medical education. We use expert interviews to inspire the next generation of medical educators by providing listeners with teaching pearls, practice-changing knowledge, and a learning objective-based dosing of Edutainment (medical education, made entertaining). Season 3 of this weekly mini-series will air every Tuesday starting April 4, 2023 on our website or wherever you get your podcasts! We are so excited to bring you this new series in the Curbsiders Family focusing on medical education. Molly Heublein, MD and Era Kryzhanovskaya, MD are your hosts for the Curbsiders Teach- they are Clinician Educators with a passion for teaching. Whether you precept students, teach small groups, are involved in curricular design, or give CME lectures, we think you’ll find valuable skills. We have the pleasure of interviewing a variety of amazing experts in topics ranging from bedside teaching, feedback conversations, learner mental health, and time-variable competency based medical education. We can’t wait to share their expertise with you! Very pragmatic info for us in primary care. Very well delivered, which is not always the case with medical deliberations!!! Thanks Curbsiders!!
MedEd yay!

Great new podcast with the familiar Pac-Manesque intro that we have come to love from Curbsiders. So useful for residents and faculty alike. My only qualm -as others have mentioned- is the time it takes to get to the point. I like all the other side chats but it would be useful to have time stamps for each episodes like curbsiders IM does. Love it anyway!
Medical edutainment at its finest!

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed what these wonderful clinican educators have done to help with bringing awareness to medical education. Look forward to what’s down the road!
What has happened to the art of being succinct?
02/13/2022
The hosts, topics, content and guests on the podcasts to date on Curbsiders Teach deserve a 5 but what the heck has happened to the thing we try and teach our students, residents and faculty--the art of being succinct?! Nearly 90 minutes on feedback! Too long! [that's feedback, btw :-)] Just because a podcast CAN be as long as you want it to be doesn't mean that you should make it that long. This, in my opinion, is the fatal flaw of many podcasts--including the Curbsiders which I don't listen to very often, as good as the content is, for this reason. I listen to a lot of podcasts--both medical and non--and there is often an apparent inability to reign it in. Think about The Daily, from the NY Times, in which they take these incredibly complicated news stories and are able to interview a reporter and tuck it into an informative/often enlightening (approximately) 30 minute show. Or check out Symptom to Diagnosis--one of the best medical podcasts out there--and those 2 are able to create content that covers symptoms worthy of textbooks that are covered in 30-35 minutes. Honestly, I believe that is the limit of most human beings to stay focused and interested. Anyway, I have not been succinct in this review but let me finish by paraphrasing Dr. Dhaliwal, one of this podcasts guests in an early episode--you can always be late, but you can't go late [in reference to rounding and I think he also means, perhaps, for lectures, too...]--> can we expand this rule to podcasts??? Anyway, keep up the good work...you're on the right trail.
Improving Education and Teaching

What a wonderful addition to The Curbsiders family! Most of us never get formal training on how to give feedback, teaching, and how to help make others better, formally, as engraved as we are in medical education. The Curbsiders Teach is one way that these wonderful medical educators are trying to help bridge the gap. Definitely love what I’ve heard so far and looking forward to what is to come!
Great resource for clinician educators!
