True Crime Uncensored with Burl Barer and Mark Boyer

This podcast has great subject matter and some interesting guest. Unfortunately the host, Burl Barer constantly interrupts them. What makes it that much worse is A) He usually has a stupid corny joke or comment, which is never funny and B) He has the worst raspy smokers voice from probably smoking 10 packs a day. Feel like I’m listening to Homer Simpson’s sister-in-law twins. This guy needs to shut up and let the guest tell their stories.

Too much background music and audio is too fuzzy.

Best show on the current and also the past airwaves. Hundreds of Millions of listeners mostly behind the wall, lol. I absolutely miss my “manager of the star” Howard Lapides , he was the best I and wish to make his last wish come true with Legend Burl Barer and get to make the full feature Stealing Manhattan and get to talk about it on how we did It. I love Berl and there’s no true crime writer with greater integrity. I could do without all the sound effects but I guess it’s part of the radio thing. Berl lets his political and religious leanings come through (he’s a Baha’i follower and there are some occasional plugs for that) but he’s not super annoying about it. Compared to someone like Dan Zupansky, who is a “just the facts “ kind of guy, Berl wears his heart on his sleeve. If you like the subject of an episode you will love it but there’s episodes that I could do without. That’s just me and a relatively minor quibble. Berl is a compassionate and natural interviewer and a true crime OG. You owe it to yourself to read his books.
