Wanja’s journey to awareness in overcoming trauma and alcohol addiction

Wanja’s journey to awareness in overcoming trauma and alcohol addiction

Wanja learned that her need to escape was stemming from the pain of past events, long buried and disregarded. In her story, she processes facing the demons of her past, owning her truth, living in her current reality, and trusting the recovery process. Taking intentional actions helped her in navigating recovery from her physical addiction to alcohol, untreated trauma, beliefs, and behaviors. Alcohol was a symptom. In the process, she learned that she is never alone unless she chooses to. It is not weak or shameful to ask for help. It is the greatest form of courage.

Abstinence and sobriety are not enough when recovering from addictions

Abstinence and sobriety are not enough when recovering from addictions

This is an insight to Actions in Recovery (A.I.R.)’s vision and philosophy based on Wanja’s own journey to overcoming. How important actions are in recovering from trauma, behaviors, and addictions. Recovery is not limited to mind altering substances like alcohol or drugs. Those are simply the obvious ones. It is handling the recovery of the mind, body, and soul. Building awareness and taking intentional actions systematically and routinely sufficient for lasting organic change, no matter the circumstances yet to be faced. If you do not take control of your actions in your recovery, you get caught up in the spiral of erupting untreated traumas, compulsive behaviors, and multiple addictions.

Huge shift in perspective!

Wanja's exploration of what "recovery" is and from her perspective on "addictions" has been such a change of perspective in navigating so many difficult areas of life. She talks about the process, the actions, the accountability that leads to true true healing. Really excellent content and completely digestible!
