    034. Postpartum Prep: Setting Up New Mama for Success

    034. Postpartum Prep: Setting Up New Mama for Success

In the postpartum season, there are many things out of our control. Especially the first few months. This includes the babies feeding, sleeping, and elimination schedule. The baby you just birthed will flip the routine you once had. Sorry Mama, just keeping it 100. However, you can support your recovery process. Nourishment in the form of consumption of wholesome foods and proper hydration can be supported. Physical and mental rest can be managed to an extent. Lastly, mental clarity and energy can be balanced to a degree.

Today I want to share with you what I am doing to support a thriving experience practically. This includes meeting the needs of my healing body, the demand for producing milk that flows and is nourishing for the baby, and the demand for natural energy, despite the inevitable loss of sleep at this time. Just as the baby has a period where they must recover from exiting the birth canal and learn how to integrate into a new environment, mothers should too. Pregnancy and giving birth are extremely strenuous mentally and physically. Athletes traditionally prepare the night before a competition with specialized nutrition, proper hydration, and adequate rest and support. Similarly, mothers in postpartum must share that same mindset and practice to thrive and support their best lives in the postpartum season and beyond.

    033. Run Mama Run. How to Run to Obtain the Prize. Part 1.

    033. Run Mama Run. How to Run to Obtain the Prize. Part 1.

Today’s episode is ‘Run Mama Run, Obtaining the Prize.’This episode is Part 1 of a 4-part series. The focus verse comes from 1 Corinthians 9:24 NKJV, which reads, “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.” As a post-collegiate track athlete, I’ve always wanted to win my physical race and receive a first-place medal. However, the author of Corinthians, Apostle Paul, refers to the spiritual race with eternal life being the prize.
No physical award can compete with eternal life. Job 14:2 reads,” We blossom like a flower and then wither. Like a passing shadow, we quickly disappear.” As I’ve matured in the spirit, I’ve come to acknowledge that my physical body can only take me so far, and what is more important to God than the body is our spirit. Maturation in the spirit is a lifelong pursuit requiring spiritual and physical training. Spiritual training begins with studying, meditating, and applying God’s word. This past year I’ve meditated and applied my understanding of four biblical principles found in the scriptures in my life. Today, I aim to share one of four scriptures with you and how it's allowing me to run mama run. Hopefully, this episode and the following three will encourage you as WE run to obtain the prize.

    031. Living Healthfully: Surviving and Thriving in Pregnancy

    031. Living Healthfully: Surviving and Thriving in Pregnancy

Today’s official title under this series is Surviving and Thriving in Pregnancy. Currently, I am in the fourth trimester of my third pregnancy and I hope to share with you my personal experience of what has allowed me to not merely survive, but to thrive during my seasons of pregnancy. While each pregnancy has been unique, I’ve concluded that there are three core areas that I’ve intentionally operated within that have served as the sails that allowed me to stay within flat waters, be redirected around upcoming storms, and even survive amidst the storms that one cannot always control in the sea we call pregnancy. Quite the analogy right? In this episode, I will share what these three core sails are alongside how I’ve adapted each sail according to the three winds, in other words, the needs of my mind, body, and spirit within the scope of each trimester. Stay tuned as I hope to encourage you as you prepare, enter, or continue in this transformative time in your life.

    030. Build Your House: Professional Nutrition Support

    030. Build Your House: Professional Nutrition Support

A healthy lifestyle is established in the home. Naturally, our habits are built upon the culture of those whom we live with, may the habits be fruitful or detrimental to our health. While the culture of my home growing up was not perfect, regular meal times, a balanced plate, and desserts at low frequency helped to instill habits that serve my health fruitfully today. Not to mention the value of exercise, beginning as a child and young adult in the form of athletics (organized sport) and continuing with fitness into adulthood.

Unfortunately, not every culture was as positive. In addition, as imperfect beings, we may depart from the ways that blessed us. The good news is, as adults, women on the move, whether single, married, or with growing families, we can rebuild, improve, or maintain habits that will serve us a lifetime. Not to mention the generation to follow.

Whether you are working on establishing new healthful habits or improving upon them, this must commence by building your house appropriately. Sometimes to best support building your house appropriately to establish and keep healthful habits requires additional outside professional support. Today, I will share for those who are new, who I am and what I provide professionally within the realm of nutrition through Wholly Nurtured Holistic Health & Nutrition Education. Stay tuned.
