Tuesday's 10am - Heroin and opiate prescription pain medication addiction is a massive health problem that is pandemic and now threatens an entire generation of young people, aged 21-35, their families and their friends. From 2009 to 2013, Arizona deaths from heroin and prescription opiates (Percocet, Oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc) overdose have doubled and now claim the life of almost two young people per day. Nationally, more deaths now occur as a result of drug overdose than from automobile accidents.
Dr. William Nelson has an ambitious goal of turning the tide of this horrible problem by cutting overdose deaths nationally by 50% in the next five years. There are a myriad of challenges that need to be accomplished in order to making such a huge impact on this overwhelming societal health problem. These challenges will be covered in a monthly show entitled, “Your Personal Road to Addiction Recovery.” The topics included in the program will include: education and prevention, public drug policy and drug laws, economics of drug industry and detox and rehab centers, latest advances in heroin and opiate addiction treatment, in-patient versus out-patient withdrawal and treatment, counseling and inner personal work for improved long term sobriety, impact of addiction on family dynamics, and other pertinent topics as they arise.
The first episode of this ongoing monthly program will be recorded on Wednesday May 3rd, 2017 at 10:00 am. Please tune in to this program and invite everyone you know that is personally affected by this overwhelming problem. Chances are, everyone you know has been personally affected or knows a friend, co-worker, or neighbor that has lost a loved one due to death by overdose.
