Apple for the Teacher
True crime stories in the school system – told by a teacher from Australia. For people looking for something different in the true crime genre, other than Ted Bundy or the Zodiac Killer. Diverse and lesser-known stories – an albino student murder in Africa, schoolgirl sexual slavery in Libya, a teacher beheaded in France, Polish teachers executed by the Nazis, just to name a few. School-based tragedies are also featured - a school bus stranded in a snowstorm, a school wiped out by a landslide, the drowning of students in a sinking ship. So join host Ana Thomas, as she presents the bad apples.
A new look at school!

Very pleasant voice to listen to. Great content. Thanks Anna
I’ll persevere but….

I’m only on the second episode and the format / content is fine. What I find really difficult to listen to is the presenters terrible “upspeak” I know Aussies are known for this awful habit of finishing their sentences with a rising inflection but it’s so annoying to listen to. It sounds like she’s reading at the front of class rather than just telling a story. I’ll give it a few more eps, hopefully when she’s more comfortable she will address this.
My favourite in the true crime genre

There is so much to love about this podcast: - the focus is always on the victim; the perpetrator doesn’t receive any fame - their name isn’t even mentioned - there are often stories about how a crime was heroically prevented - Ana tells the stories in a clear voice and at a very good speed, which means that even a partially deaf person like me never misses a thing, even when I am listening while gardening or cleaning - the podcast is supported with an interactive facebook group and an Instagram page, where pictures (and sometimes videos) of the victim or the location of the crime are displayed I can’t think of any other podcast that has all this.
Somewhere in Australia

Some where in Australia a woman sits in her closet talking to herself. Why? Each week Ana Thomas, teacher, true crime podcaster, lays down the sound track for her latest episode from her closet. Her episodes cover stories from across the world of the crimes, tragedy and mysteries that take place within the educational system. The onus of each story is to pay tribute to those involved in the tragedy and the heroes as well and gives little to no credence to those who perpetrated the crime. The stories are conveyed with a calm, clear and concise voice that is easy to listen to and never has you wondering what was said. Honestly it is a great podcast and one I never miss. To quote a famous Aussie, “do yourself a favour and have a listen to this” you won’t be sorry.
