    Getting Support

    Getting Support

The number one piece of advice people tell you when you're going through separation and divorce is to get support. From your friends, your family and professionals.

    But where do you start?

And if you are a friend or a family member of someone who’s going through the break down of a family, what can you do to be as helpful as you can?

On this episode of The Split, Mandy seeks advice from relationships counselor, Melissa Ferrari, and the woman who got her through two separations, her mum Carol.

    Who Gets What?

    Who Gets What?

When it comes to dividing assets, things can get messy.

But, as finance expert Melissa Browne tells Mandy, they don't have to.

The key is to try and remove your emotional attachment to the things you and your partner shared.  A bit like Marie Kondo-ing your marital life.

But how do you do it? And what if you really want that dining room table? Or the house?

Today's episode is here to help you navigate the murky waters of dividing up the stuff you accumulate after a lifetime (or a short time) together.

If you’re going through a separation or know someone who is, The Split is here to help…

    Breaking Up The Family

    Breaking Up The Family

When you've decided to separate from your partner one of the hardest things can be telling the kids.  How do you protect them while giving them all the information they need?  Is there a perfect day of the week or time of day to do it?  According to Child Psychologist Dr. Michael Carr-Gregg, there is, and he shares his tips with Mandy on how to have this difficult situation.

Plus what is birds nesting and is it good for the family? The Split listener, Emma, answers all our questions.

And is it really easier to separate if you don't have kids?

Starting to date again

I love this podcast and was looking forward to hearing the stories of others who have taken the dating plunge. Not disappointed but don’t think that Mandy’s Christmas story works in this context. Better suited to an episode about creating a new ‘normal’

Essential listening when in doubt!

This podcast was so helpful in reassuring me to trust my feelings about my marriage. I had lost my way and was really unhappy with myself. It opened my eyes (along with my counsellor) to see how I could fix/not fix the relationship. I listened to this several times, pulling out the bits that made sense to me and hearing new perspective was enlightening. Keep it available!

Helped me immensely

This podcast has given me a much broader perspective on some of the challenges I am facing in regards to the breakdown of my 9 year relationship. It showed me there are women going through exactly the same issues, and that there is light at the end of what seems like a never ending dark tunnel. A much needed confidence boost in a time in which I feel very alone.
