Room 20
The sign above his hospital bed called him Sixty-Six Garage. For more than 15 years, he would lay there unidentified and unconscious. Or so, everyone believed. From L.A. Times Studios and the team that brought you “Dirty John” and “Man in the Window,” comes “Room 20,” a story about the search for a man’s identity and the truth about his accident. Investigative reporter Joanne Faryon’s two-year journey is filled with twists and turns. Now, she'll finally reveal who Garage really is. But one important question remained for her upon this discovery: has Garage been conscious this entire time? This series was produced by L.A. Times Studios with support from Neon Hum Media.

Crying and smiling moments

I really enjoyed listening to this story. I felt the Individual telling this story was very compassionate and love how she never gave up finding out more information. Had me crying at times and smiling at times.
So touching

A great listen! So many people impacted her by this piece of journalism. And always appreciative of finding a bit of CANCon 🙂
Horrifying but compelling

Well-executed, for six episodes of what amounts to the host’s therapy session. They should put will kit and DIY DNR ads instead of the constantly eco-friendly bedsheet ads, since that’s what this podcast left me *actually* wanting to buy. The “vent farm” is a horror.
Nurse for medically complex/differently abled children.

Podcaster would benefit from a course on disability studies, speaking with an SLP, an OT, a deaf/blind interpreter. There are assistive devices that can allow people to communicate simply using their eye gaze. Very disrespectful terminology, decreased value being put onto individuals with disabilities, and feeding into the assumption that persons who are non verbal or neurodivergent should be treated differently. The community supports person-first language, empowering terminology, and the presence of ongoing respect. Golden rule is to ALWAYS speak to people with the assumption that they can understand and comprehend everything. Do not talk down, do not baby/pity, do not assume lack of cognition. Treat all humans as HUMANS.
