Say The Hard Thing | The Benefits Of "Over Communicating" | The Mel Lawson Show

Say The Hard Thing | The Benefits Of "Over Communicating" | The Mel Lawson Show

Your voice is a tool. Are you using it?

In this episode, Liv and I delve into a quote I read from James Clear, author of Atomic Habits , on over communication…
“If you wait to reply because you don’t have an answer yet (or because you don’t want to share bad news), the other party often ends up making assumptions about what the delayed reply might mean. Silence frustrates and confuses people. Better to communicate early and often.” - James Clear

Biting your tongue isn’t the best thing to do.

Being vague or not responding at all can bring about the very thing you’re trying to avoid. That awkward, icky vibe. Or worse yet, an argument.

Saying the hard thing you’re putting off can lead to deeper connections and clearer understanding.

We’ll share real-life scenarios where over communication has made life easier after the “I wish the ground would swallow me up” conversation.

This is your sign to say the thing you think  you can’t say.

    Melanie.

How To Think Like An Olympian | With Leon Taylor | The Mel Lawson Show

How To Think Like An Olympian | With Leon Taylor | The Mel Lawson Show

This episode's guest is Leon Taylor, an Olympic silver medalist who has gone on to commentate for the BBC, mentor Olympic and Paralympic athletes and speak at a TEDx talk viewed by millions. He also coached me to run the Brighton half marathon (yes, half. I hate running).

You don't have to be an Olympic athlete to think like one. There’s something for everyone in this chat. Even if high-performance sport isn’t your thing, we’re all trying to get better at something. There are some great parenting tips too.

I hope it inspires you just enough to look at one area of your life you’d like to improve. I always find my chats with Leon super energising.

Katie 💟 ,

Love this podcast!!!!

I am a Bare Biology lover so it made sense to tune in. This podcast has now become one I look forward too each week. It’s great to hear British women now talking about wellness, female health and our inner worlds. I can feel so alone on my journey sometimes in my own friendship groups so this podcast makes me feel seen, accepted and inspired. Thanks Mel you are a great host and I LOVE your guests too. I have just booked a psychic reading with Danielle for my 42nd birthday present. Much love xxxx

Enjoyed!

Great first episode, as someone who has struggled with fear my whole life, I found it really insightful that I’m not alone. It’s so true that we make ourselves the victim of our fears, I’m certainly going to make more of an effort to get outside my comfort zone, something I’m actually finding easier to do as I get older. Looking forward to further episodes.
