Almost everyone has a favorite kind of food they get very nostalgic about. Be it the Mac & Cheese their grandma used to make, the fresh baked bread on a Sunday morning when the family had breakfast together, or the amazing lemonade you would make when your kids came home from school on a hot summer day. It’s the kinds of foods and beverages that immediately trigger memories when we think about them or smell them. It’s what a lot of people would also call “comfort food” bringing back warm childhood memories when we need them the most.
I’d like to explore those stories with you, inviting guests from all walks of live to share their foods and their memories.

'Down the Rabbit Hole' with Dina

Dina is a true gem. Her channel, Silver Lining Homeplace, offers awesome comfort food, tips and tricks, gardening advice, and the occasional cocktail recipe, all delivered with a smile and her charming personality. Hard to believe that only a short while ago, she had never posted a YouTube video in her life.
So together, we dive deep down the rabbit hole to uncover, where it all started and how Dina, as we know and love her, came to be.
Note: I apologize for the bad audio quality of my side of the recording. Tried to fix it as best as I could, but it’s not great. Hope you still enjoy it.

'ADHD and Dole Whip' with Kelly Guimont

Kelly lives in one of the food capitals of the world. For one, Portland has the highest number of food trucks in the US (according to some news outlets). So it’s a bit of a surprise that she isn’t known for her canning skills or for reading recipes on Youtube.
Most people know her from her many podcasts, her work for App Camp For Girls or her amazing tech support skills. Today, however, Kelly and I talk all about food, ADHD and Dole Whip at Disneyland.

'A Foodie's Tour Through Chicago' with David Ginsburg

'A Foodie's Tour Through Chicago' with David Ginsburg

To say David knows a lot about the culinary scene in and around Chicago would be an absolute understatement. While he’s not much into cooking (aside from the occasional BBQ) he sure is a foodie. With his extensive knowledge of everything good there is to eat and drink in the area, one has to wonder why he hasn’t written a book or created a TV show about it.
One thing is certain though: Chicago has a lot to offer, when it comes to food. Not just Deep Dish Pizza, something most people would associate with the city, but also hot dogs, cheese sandwiches and so, so much more! It’s really no surprise there’s a long running food rivalry with New York.
I for one, plan on visiting Chicago soon. And coming back 100lbs heavier most likely. It will be worth it.

'From Brooklyn to North-West Germany' with Mike T Rose

'From Brooklyn to North-West Germany' with Mike T Rose

For people in the Apple technology news space, Mike Rose is a well known entity. He served as Editor for The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) for over 8 years, and his voice can still be heard on many podcasts.
Influenced by his Jewish upbringing and his lovely wife’s German ancestry, Mike is certainly what you’d call a foodie. He’s very curios about food, and loves to visit his favorite restaurants in and around Brooklyn. Through his wife, he also experienced the kitchen of North-Western Germany (Lippe) as well as Berlin’s amazing street food scene.
A while ago, Mike dipped his toes into the world of live cooking, sharing his chicken recipe on Instagram Live and showing us at least some of his many kitchen gadgets.
Mike’s favorite dish: Pork Chops in Cherry-Pepper Sauce Recipe.
Worst kitchen gadget he owns: Garlic peeler

    'California Foodie' with Teresa Morris

    'California Foodie' with Teresa Morris

What do babies, sleep and Lemon Meringue Pie have in common? Quite a lot, when it comes to Teresa.
As a foodie and environmentalist from California, Teresa enjoys everything the state has to offer year round. Her favorite place? The farmers market, where she can see what’s looking good and in season right now, and interact with the farmers. She loves to let the produce inspire her, even if that means 3 months of broccoli dishes.
One thing few people know about her is that she owned and ran a restaurant in New Albany (Indiana) for a year.

Hot Apple Pie (with or without alcohol) One bottle of unfiltered apple juice Three seedless orange slices thinly sliced 2 (real) cinnamon sticks 5 cloves Put everything in a stainless steel pot. Bring to boil and immediately reduce to simmer. Steep for at least 1 hour, longer is better. Ladle into a mug and top with firmly whipped (homemade!) whipping cream. Sprinkle a tiny bit of nutmeg on top and serve. Add a splash of Tuaca for an adult-only version.
