    35: How to Evolve Your Creative Practice with Sherrod Faulks of DEEP BLACK

    Sherrod Faulks, a true Renaissance man, journeyed through culinary arts, photography, and software development before finding his passion in ceramics. Co-founding Slice & Torte, a food media company, helped him refine his branding and entrepreneurial skills. Yet, it was a pottery class that changed his path and led him to create DEEP BLACK, a ceramics and design-centered business in 2020. Since then, Sherrod and his work have been featured in powerhouse publications like The New York Times, Real Simple, Southern Living, and more.

    In this episode, Sherrod and I discuss the skills, internal work, and experiences that led him to leave his 9-to-5 job to pursue entrepreneurship full-time through DEEP BLACK, as well as what ignited his passion for ceramics and pottery.     32: Preserving Black Culinary Narratives through Storytelling with Sheree Williams of Cuisine Noir and The Global Food and Drink Initiative

    Sheree Williams is the founder and executive director of The Global Food and Drink Initiative (GFDI), based in Oakland, California. Since 2009, Sheree has been leading the charge in culinary storytelling as the publisher of the first Black global digital and print culinary lifestyle publication, Cuisine Noir Magazine. Through her visionary leadership, Cuisine Noir has been instrumental in connecting the African diaspora through the lens of food, drink, and travel, sparking important conversations about Black chefs, tastemakers, winemakers, and travel influencers.
    In this episode, Sheree shares the lessons she's learned from running a publication centered on Black food and culture and the trends she sees shaping Black foodways in 2024 and beyond. She also emphasizes the importance of sharing Black stories as a means of preserving. Black history. In the table topic, she offers her tips for writers and media professionals interested in amplifying underrepresented voices.
