I’ve been listening for a while, and on my last trip to Italy, 3x people thought I was Italian. In Bologna, I got a free Tigelle because the lady thought I was Italian and asked me one too many questions. When I said I’m just learning, she said my accent was great.
In Torino a shop worker responded to my question, then asked a follow up question- I was ready with the answer… then he also asked another question… no free stuff there.
In Modena, at a sandwich shop - just the little bit I knew, made the trip that much more enjoyable. Hoping next time I go, I can spend a bit more time.
