    Ep#66 Having your own back

    Ep#66 Having your own back

What does it mean to have your own back, and why is it important?

Let's start with what it looks like for someone else to have our back.

When a friend has our back, it means that no matter what's happening, we can count on them to be there for us in a kind, compassionate and supportive way. They will be there for us and on our side.

You hear them tell you, "I've got you," "I am here for you!" and "You can count on me."

So having your own back means you treat yourself exactly like your friend would treat you and the way you would treat her.

It is you being there for you, no matter what. There is no beating yourself up for the decisions you make because you trust that you are making the best decisions at that moment, and there is no such thing as a failure, only learning and growing from what happened.

But most of us have never been trained to have our own back; instead, we've been taught that to get ourselves to do something or not do something, we have to beat ourselves up.

It's crazy that we have come to believe that beating ourselves up is how we look after ourselves, but it is not!

Having your own back is not natural to you right now because you don't know any other way. So having your back starts with having self-compassion for yourself for where you are right now and then putting into practice the skill of training your brain to believe in yourself, trust yourself and know that anything is possible for you in your life!

🔥 You'll discover why you don't have your own back and what to do to start taking care of yourself and being your own best friend.

Ep#65 The number one belief sabotaging you around food

Ep#65 The number one belief sabotaging you around food

You've tried all the diets, and you know what to eat, yet you find yourself overeating time and time again.
You're at a loss for why you can't stop giving in to the food that's not on your diet plan.
You're feeling so frustrated and wonder that there must be something wrong with you, Asking yourself, "why do I want the chips so bad, and why can't I stop myself?!"
I'm sure you're thinking that if only you had more willpower or discipline, you would be able to stop yourself from giving in because, isn't that what you have been made to believe?
Isn't it more willpower and discipline you need to stop yourself from grabbing the chips when you step into the kitchen after work when your brain is consumed with thoughts of everything that went on and how:
You didn't do a good enough job
    Or
You are not a good enough nurse
    Or
You could have done a better job
If this is you, thinking you just lack willpower and discipline, I get it.
But what if it's not that you lack willpower or discipline?
What if in that moment when the desire for the chips is so intense, it's because you have never been shown that you are craving those chips because eating them is your way of distracting yourself from what is really going on inside of you?
All those diets you have tried have not worked long term to stop your overeating because they do not help you see and understand WHY you want the chips so badly.
In this week's episode, I'll show you the number one belief I see going on inside my clients and that you may also have that if you have it, it will sabotage you around food.
This belief shows up in many areas of our lives, leads to our desire for food, and sends us overeating.
🔥 If you are ready to find out the belief that is holding you back from ending your overeating, you will want to listen to this week's episode, Episode #65: The number one belief sabotaging you around food on Weight Loss For Nurses

Ep#64 The unexpected reason why you don't trust yourself around food

Ep#64 The unexpected reason why you don't trust yourself around food

Do you believe that you don't trust yourself around certain foods?
The biggest mistake I see people make is thinking because they don't trust themselves around certain food, they have to restrict themselves from ever having that food because having some leads to eating until it's all gone.
And I get it, everyone tells us the answer is just don't allow yourself to eat any chocolate, cookies or whatever your trigger food is, and you won't have a problem, right?
But let me ask you this, does everyone who allows themselves to eat sweets and treats overeat them?
No, so what ends up happening if you continue to restrict those foods and hold onto that belief that you don't trust yourself to have them, you will stay stuck in the cycle of:
Restrict ... willpower your way through... give in... eat way more than you wanted... shame and regret... eat more of your trigger foods because "what's the point, you've already overeaten"... feel even worse about yourself... restart restricting again.
    Rinse and repeat!
So let me ask you, do you really want to keep thinking that you can't trust yourself around those foods and continue to feel anxious, nervous and worried about eating them and stay stuck in the cycle or do you want to know how to have the foods you enjoy without any shame or regret.
🔥 If you are ready to learn a completely different way of eating that leaves you with peace and trust around food, then listen to this week's podcast, weight loss for nurses!

Ep#63 Enjoying the holiday season without overindulging

Ep#63 Enjoying the holiday season without overindulging

The biggest mistake most people make is thinking they can't stop overeating during the holiday season.
And I get it. Everyone says that the holidays are the time for enjoyment and celebration and food is part of that. So it's easy to fall into the trap that indulging in festive food is part of the holidays.
Let me ask you. Does everyone who goes through the holiday season overeat? No, and you could actually end up gaining weight and starting January off like you did last year if you hold onto that belief.
But if that were true, then everyone who goes through the holiday season would overeat, right? And we all know that's not the case. If you keep holding this belief, you could end up starting January off the same you do year after year, trying to gain control over food so you can lose weight.
🔥 In this week's episode of the Weight Loss For Nurses Podcast, I'll show you how you can actually enjoy the holiday season without overindulging in all the sweets and treats.

Ep#62 Mindless Eating vs Emotional Eating

Ep#62 Mindless Eating vs Emotional Eating

Are you already stressing over how you will get through and enjoy the holidays- Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's when it comes to all the food that will be available, especially the food you know you enjoy eating?
You are also stressed thinking about how you can enjoy yourself without overeating and feeling so full and then regret how much you ate.
How many holiday seasons have gone by with you going through this same worry and stress?
If you are anything like me or my clients, it was way too many years.
And because we think the only way to control ourselves around food is by dieting, and there is no way we want to diet over the holidays, we often give up and resign to the fact there is nothing we can do.
We say, "oh well, I'll get back on track and start again once the holidays are over."
I want to help you make this year different.
🔥 In this week's episode of the Weight Loss For Nurses Podcast, I will show how you can get control of your eating, and it is not by restricting food but by becoming aware of why you are overeating in the first place.
Two reasons why you are overeating are that you are mindless eating and emotional eating.
Once you become aware that you are doing these, it becomes so much easier to gain control over the food.
You will learn the difference between the two then you can decrease how much you are eating, and that is how you feel in control around food without having to diet or use willpower.
It's time you enjoy the holiday season without the added stress of fearing food.

Ep#61 Is food your friend or enemy?

Ep#61 Is food your friend or enemy?

    What is food to you?
    It's my best friend
    It's my enemy
    It's a complicated relationship!
We have relationships with people, AND we also have our relationship with food.
You may not even think about having a relationship with food or that your relationship is healthy, but is it?
Sometimes a bad relationship with food can appear as a "healthy" one.
It's you believing what diet culture is telling you that food should be restricted and deprived.
    Is that really healthy?
What kind of relationship is this with food?
Restriction, deprivation, and all the other diet rules do not lead to a healthy relationship with food.
Why? A healthy relationship with food is about how and why you choose food, not about the food itself.
Our relationship with food affects every aspect of our life because having a positive relationship with food means food no longer consumes so much of our mental time and energy. When food is no longer the center of attention in our life, we can be present with others and truly enjoy our life.

🔥 In this week's episode of the Weight Loss For Nurses Podcast, I will go over some signs that your relationship with food isn't healthy and then show you what a healthy relationship with food does look like.
