Episode 51: The One About Getting Out of a Rut

Episode 51: The One About Getting Out of a Rut

On today’s episode of The Fit Parent Podcast we are talking about how to get ourselves out of a rut and back to winning with our fitness & nutrition routines.

    We go into depth on:

How to get yourself unstuck when you’re in a rut

How to start achieving quick wins every day

How to identify our minimum effective doses

Why making failure hard and success easy helps us win

Why we need to stop waiting for 100% adherence to start celebrating our wins

We can't let ruts define what we do. When we focus on our failures, we steer into them and continue the cycle. To break this, we have to focus back on the basics. Focus on one single thing that you can achieve and celebrate the hell out of it. Motivation is a momentum game. When we give ourselves the chance to win (no matter how small it may feel) it creates a domino effect that will start to make our failures feel smaller.

Why discipline is overrated (or misunderstood).

Life is filled with interruptions. They are unavoidable & can easily derail your progress if you aren’t set up for success. In this episode, we dive into how to take quitting off the table so that even when you forget your lunch or your kids are home and interrupt your workout or you’re flat out too exhausted, you’re able to keep on track with your goals.

Episode 49: Becoming Who You Want To Be With Danielle Towle

Episode 49: Becoming Who You Want To Be With Danielle Towle

On today’s episode of The Fit Parent Podcast I am joined by my close friend, mom of 3, and current client Danielle Towle to talk about how she started using fitness to become the best version of herself.

    We go into depth on:

How she learned to focus on “becoming” rather than “achieving”.

How she learned to start living with intention.

How she learned to feel at home in her body again postpartum.

How she makes choices every day to become the person she wants to be.

How she shifted her perspective on failure to not let one bad day ruin her mindset or progress.

Fitness goals tend to drive short term solutions; “I want to lose 20 lbs by summer”. But, when we shift our focus from what we want to achieve in the short term, to who we want to become, we are able to make changes that will bring us long term results and closer to living our fit life.

Episode 48: The One With My Wife’s Weight Loss Journey

Episode 48: The One With My Wife’s Weight Loss Journey

On this special episode of The Fit Parent Podcast I am joined by my wife, Megan, to talk about how she lost 25 lbs and over 18 inches in the last year without tracking calories or giving up cheesecake.

    We go into depth on:

Her journey to rediscover her body after having 3 kids in 19 months

How she created a new routine without extreme diet or fitness

What were her keys to losing the weight without feeling restricted

How she learned to find confidence again in her body postpartum

How she adjusted her goals to achieve success

    And more

A year ago, my wife said to me: “Maybe I’m just not meant to lose weight.” It broke my heart. But, after a year of consistently showing up, the other day, she donated half her closet because it was too big. This morning, she came downstairs wearing a shirt she hasn’t worn since before pregnancy (nearly 5 years ago). Last week, she went shopping &, for the first time in years, came home feeling good about herself. And while she’ll tell you it wasn’t always smooth, it hasn’t gone as fast as she wanted, & she still has progress to make, she will also tell you that she’s proud of herself. I’m proud of her, too.
