282: How to Trust Your Breath with Stacy Fritz
“Take a deep breath.” I feel like I’ve heard this advice for as long as I can remember. I am a crier and always have been. Often when someone can see I’m about to cry, this is their advice. It’s not the greatest advice.
Taking a deep breath may actually make you MORE anxious and upset. But don’t worry, Stacy Fritz will explain which breath will help you. Stacy is one of my very good friends and she’s the founder and inventor of vidaBALL–a tool that will help you to use your breath and trust it. And in the process you’ll trust yourself.
In this wide ranging conversation we talk about breathing, self-advocacy, advocating for your ideas and riding the waves of grief.
Here’s the link to vidaBALL–it’s an amazing tool!
Here are the links to the breathing exercises that Stacy described.
Water–good for anytime
Wine/Whiskey-to relax
Coffee–for energy

280: Unveiling Radical Humility with Urs Koenig - A Deep Dive into Modern Leadership
In this episode of the podcast, Heather welcomes Urs Koenig, a former United Nations peacekeeper and NATO military peacekeeping commander, who is also the author of "Radical Humility: Be a Badass Leader and a Good Human." This leadership approach is anchored in three pillars: accurate self-knowledge, self-awareness, and relational leadership. Heather and Urs also explore how his endurance athletic background has shaped his views on leadership and the skill of learning to lose. In today’s episode of How to Advocate, we’re talking about complacency. Whether you’re an individual leading yourself or a leader within an organization, complacency is a problem. The CURE is belief that is Contagious, Unapologetic, Reasoned (not reasonable), and Empathetic. (and if you need help with the Empathy piece this exercise will definitely help!) https://bit.ly/ThreeExercisesforGreaterPerspective
And if you want to dive deeper into this work, The Self Advocacy School is the easiest place to start. It’s a place where you can practice building belief (first your own, then others’) and become an extraordinary advocate. Here’s the link to join.
