    67: Giving more than you take with Dr. Trista Felty

    Dr. Felty was born and raised in Pennsylvania where she attended Villanova University and was a member of the varsity swim team.  She attended Temple University for her dental degree and orthodontic training.  During dental school she swam the English Channel as part of a 3-person relay team to raise money for MS research.  She met her husband in dental school and moved to his hometown in British Columbia after finishing school. She is a part time faculty member in the graduate orthodontic program at the University of British Columbia and is in a private practice partnership in Abbotsford, BC.  She dedicates a considerable portion of her time serving on various dental and orthodontic committees and boards, on both the local and national levels.  She currently holds a position on the Board of Directors for the PCSO and serves on the AAO Council for New and Younger Members, where she also acts as the liaison to the AAO Board of Trustees.  She is a passionate advocate for having more female and younger members hold various positions in organized dentistry in recognition of the changing landscape of the dental profession. She loves orthodontics and enjoys the comradery among her colleagues.     66: Dental Hygiene to Diamond Plus with Dr. Regina Blevins

    Dr. Regina Blevins started her career in dentistry in 1980 as a Dental hygiene graduate of C.S. Mott community college. She attended the University of Michigan where she received her degree in dentistry. Her appreciation and love for the fine art of the cosmetic side of dentistry led her to pursue her orthodontic graduate training at the University of Minnesota, where she received her Master of Science and a certificate in orthodontics. Dr. Blevins enjoys staying up to date on the latest developments in orthodontics by maintaining a rigorous continuing education schedule and by following current orthodontic research. National speaking events on behalf of Invisalign and Aligntech is a passion for Dr. Blevins and has led her to teaching dental students at the University of Minnesota. When she is out of the office Dr. Blevins enjoys living an active lifestyle and spending time with her husband Tom and their four children, Noah, Rachel, Lucy, and Will. As a family, they enjoy doing yoga, Taekwondo (Dr. Blevins is a black belt!), and spending time in their backyard cooking, gardening and relaxing.     Hi, my name is Nicole Wax. I am an Orthodontist in Michigan. I opened my practice right out of residency in my home town of ~4,000 people. In just 4 years we have accomplished monstrous goals and achievements including the title of Diamond Plus Invisalign Provider. I have a huge passion for COMMUNITY and I love to share my success stories with others as a form of motivation and inspiration. I think that success comes from clarity in your goals and most importantly in the plan of how to achieve your goals. A team that is also focused and motivated for the practice goals is instrumental to reach your highest potential. Dr. Wax completed 11 years of college training to become an orthodontist. Her educational journey started when she graduated from Linden High School. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Physiology with a specialization in Bioethics, Humanities, and Society from Michigan State University. From Michigan State, she moved to Columbus, Ohio for her dental training at the Ohio State University. After receiving her dental degree (Doctor of Dental Surgery) she moved back to her home state of MI to obtain advanced post doctorate training at the University of Detroit Mercy to become an Orthodontic Specialist with a Masters in Science.
