Compassion Fatigue

Listening and to the episode with you and Bishop Murphy helped me realize something. For the last few years, I felt like I’ve become numb to different people and different experiences (i.e. - death, someone experiencing a trauma, etc.) Stuff that used to move me emotionally, or situations or circumstances that the natural reaction should have been compassion...I was bankrupt. I didn’t like the feeling and I knew something was off but I didn’t know what it was. Until you said Compassion Fatigue. Even though I’m not a Pastor, Doctor/Nurse or Therapist, for so long I was that person that many of my family & friends depended on for various reasons. Whenever there was a crisis, a new trial/tribulations or a new diagnosis, I was the go to person. Every problem people experienced, it was like they had to come to me to help resolve. I’ve felt like I was pulled and pulled and pulled and pulled, to where I’ve just become numb to things. I’m just so exhausted hearing about other people’s problems, that when I started to experience my own, no one was there...and I just wasn’t feeling anything anymore, when I knew I should have. Anyhoo, I’m going to research this Compassion Fatigue more and see what I learn. Great Episode.
