#98- Quarter Life Crisis (with Carlea Blight)

#98- Quarter Life Crisis (with Carlea Blight)

Hey everyone! In honour of my best friend Carlea's birthday today, I'm releasing this super fun podcast episode where we chat about turning 25. Come hang out with us as we sip some espresso martinis and talk about the pressures that come along with being this age, the confusion we have about what we should be doing next, and the impacts that COVID has had on our current life stage. We also answer some deep questions about ourselves and each other, so you will really get to know Carlea and me as a friendship today. This conversation is super chill, funny (I think), and hopefully relatable for anyone else who is feeling similar things about being in their mid-20s. Be sure to follow me on social media @therevolutionizedmind, and don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe to the show on whatever platform you're listening on!

P.S. I am so sorry about the sounds you will hear as we pass the microphone back and forth. I only own one mic and it was very difficult to edit those noises out, but hopefully it's not too distracting!!

    #97- My Current Life Update

    #97- My Current Life Update

Heyyooo! It's been a while since we got to sit down and chat. Is it just me or have the last few months felt really weird for you too? I have just been feeling super stuck in my environment lately and I was starting to notice that it was affecting my mental health. So, I decided to make a big life change: I'm back at Western University for the semester! And, more importantly, I'm playing soccer here! This was a super random and last-minute decision for me as I had no intentions of ever returning to this level of sport after I graduated, but it feels so good to be back! In this episode, I explain what this "stuck" feeling looked like for me, how and why I made the decision to come back to play, and what I hope to get out of this next chapter of my life. It's been a wild last couple of weeks but I am so excited to bring you all along this new journey. Be sure to follow me on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook @therevolutionizedmind, and don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe to the show on whatever platform you're listening on!

#96- Step by Step (with Erica Romaniuk)

#96- Step by Step (with Erica Romaniuk)

This week on TRM, we are joined by the Founder of Step by Step Tours, Erica Romaniuk! Erica graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson) and was very grateful to find a job in her field post-grad. However, this job brought on lots of anxiety, feelings of isolation, and overall poor mental well-being. This forced her to reassess what she wanted to do with her life. Her identity was strongly tied to being a proud woman in STEM and it was very difficult to walk away from that. So, she decided to start going to therapy and took some time to do lots of honest self-reflection. Erica thought long and hard about what truly makes her happy, what she’s passionate about, and how she could combine these things with her professional life. And then, Step by Step Tours was born! Erica tells us all about what it was like to leave her job in engineering and take a chance on her new business. This really is an inspiring conversation to listen to and I hope it can help someone else out there! Be sure to follow us on social media @therevolutionizedmind & @stepbystep.tours, and don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe to the show on whatever platform you're listening on!

#95- Using Sport as a Tool (with Benji Arhen)

#95- Using Sport as a Tool (with Benji Arhen)

The Revolutionized Mind Podcast is BACK this week with the one and only, Benji Arhen! In this episode, Ben tells us all about his journey as an athlete, explains how we can use sport as a tool in our lives, and emphasizes the importance of building mental toughness. Born and raised in Ghana, Benji didn’t actually start playing football until his late high school years. Very quickly, he made Team Ontario and got scouted by Queens University, resulting in many transitions: physically, mentally, and emotionally. After an extremely successful varsity career and obtaining a Masters Degree, Benji decided to stay involved by coaching, mentoring, and inspiring youth, both in and outside of sport. This episode is filled with an incredible amount of passion and will surely impact you in some small way. Be sure to follow us on social media @therevolutionizedmind & @benjiisworld_, and don't forget to rate, review, and subscribe to the show on whatever platform you're listening on!

#94- Life with a Hallucination (with Mary Tompros)

#94- Life with a Hallucination (with Mary Tompros)

Let's start by taking a big deep breath together! This week, we are joined by mental health advocate and social work student, Mary Tompros. Mary lives with a chronic hallucination, and in this episode, she tells us all about how it started, how she learned to adapt, and just generally what it feels like to never be alone. She shares some of the coping skills that therapy has given her, the different perspectives she’s gained, and just how much she’s grown through the challenging times. Mary also addresses the stigma, emphasizing that people who experience psychosis ARE NOT DANGEROUS. There is a big misconception about having hallucinations, and Mary uses her platform to show the true realities of living with a complex mental illness, including the good times and the bad. I’m so grateful that I got the chance to connect with Mary and learn more about her story. This conversation is extremely informative and deep, in a funny and relatable way. Trigger warning: this episode discusses the topic of suicide, so please check in with yourself before consuming this content. Additionally, I give a brief update about my upcoming break from the podcast! I'm doing okay, I just need some time to breathe, so I will be taking a break from releasing episodes until further notice.
