351: This is the Woman Bringing a Hormone-Free Birth Control Pill to the US Market

I watched everyone’s jaw drop to the floor when I told my team what this woman has accomplished.
At 15-years old Keiana Cave was researching the BP oil spill and inventing new ways of detecting toxins in seawater after spills. Before she was barely 20 she’d received millions in funding to continue her scientific research. Now at 21, she’s inventing a non-hormonal birth control pill.
She is a scientist and a CEO, she’s a woman innovating for women, and she encourages girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math, too. Keiana is a brilliant mind and beautiful soul, and I’m so excited that she’s on the Goal Digger Podcast to share her story with you.
We talk about life and business as a woman in science. We talk about birth control and our cycles. We talk about all the things and it’s waiting for you.

350: The Small Business Stimulus Package, Simplified: How to Determine Your Eligibility and Claim Your Money

350: The Small Business Stimulus Package, Simplified: How to Determine Your Eligibility and Claim Your Money

Last week, the US Government passed an unprecedented $2 trillion dollar stimulus bill in response to the economic impact of COVID-19. That’s a lot of zeros, and with 883-pages in the bill, there’s a lot of info to digest. I’m not sure we’ve ever done this, but we released this episode less than 24 hours after we recorded it, because we know how important this information will be for you and your small business.
Casey Graham is the Co-Founder and CEO of Gravy, the leading failed payment recovery and customer retention solution for companies with recurring revenue. But more than that, Casey is a champion for entrepreneurs, and when the stimulus package passed, he was quick to dive into what it meant for small businesses with CPA and advisory experts, so he could break it down and translate the language for us on the podcast today.
Casey will answer what a stimulus package is, what it means for small businesses, who qualifies, what you need to do to claim it, and all of the important nitty-gritty details broken down into one episode, because I know you’re not using your quarantine time to read all 883-pages of that bill.
Straight to the facts. Let’s talk about the $2 trillion dollar stimulus package and what it means for YOU.

    349: Behind the Scenes of a Non-Profit

    349: Behind the Scenes of a Non-Profit

Are you curious about the inner workings of a non-profit? Have you thought maybe a non-profit could be your calling? Are you entrepreneurial minded and want to impact the world with the business you build? This episode is for you.
Hannah Skvarla started The Little Market alongside Lauren Conrad because they wanted to find a meaningful way to give back. Their goal was to create a sustainable way to help women around the world break the cycle of poverty and create a better future for themselves and their families.
The shop is stunning but the mission behind it makes each item even more beautiful. I am so excited for Hannah to share what the early days of The Little Market looked like, how she and Lauren partnered and leveraged each other’s gifts to build the organization, and her advice for getting started on your own non-profit to celebrate and support a cause close to your heart.

348: How to Safeguard Your Small Biz During the Coronavirus Outbreak

348: How to Safeguard Your Small Biz During the Coronavirus Outbreak

This season we’ve suddenly been thrown into is heavy. It’s brought a lot of uncertainty and devastation and things are shifting rapidly. Businesses have bolted doors, schools have been canceled for the remainder of the year, and people who make a living off of hourly work are wondering when’s the next time they'll be able to meet with clients, offer their services and make a living again.
It’s absolute turmoil and completely heartbreaking, from the chaos and panic of a quickly spreading and deadly illness to the impact this disease has already had on business owners and families everywhere. And it’s equally frightening that no one saw it coming and no one knows when things will take an upswing.
So while I hate the circumstance, I can tell you that in this season of waiting, time is the resource that can help you pivot, grow and expand the most. My hope is that you take this time and space to breathe again, dream again, and put steps into motion to keep this thing running WELL after we’ve made it through this challenging season.
So let’s get into the tangible steps to take right now to keep your business flourishing now and next week and next year and beyond.

347: These 5 Things Will Make or Break Your Biz

347: These 5 Things Will Make or Break Your Biz

Ready to START and SUCCEED but don’t know where to begin? This is for you.
Nothing feels more intimidating than starting. Judging by the amount of DMs and comments I see about how I got started in my business, I feel like you might agree that starting can be the hardest part.
My friend Natalis Ellis is co-founder of BossBabe, a community for unapologetically ambitious women. Sounds like my kind of community, right? It has since grown into a massive resource with over 15 million members learning how to start, grow, and scale their businesses.
Natalie also knows that starting can be the hardest part, and that’s why the babes behind BossBabe created a framework around it. Our goal for this episode is to demystify the how of starting your business, what you can do to move from side hustle to full time, and why being resourceful is more important than having resources.

346: Affiliate Marketing Strategies for the Decade

346: Affiliate Marketing Strategies for the Decade

Affiliate marketing is one of THE best ways to start generating passive income and getting paid to share the things you already adore AND that you likely already share with your people because of said adoration.
Anyone with a following can pursue it to make more money -- without creating, packaging, shipping, or building a darn thing... Other than content.
It’s not about having thousands, tens of thousands, or a million-plus followers. It’s not about having any air of celebrity or a household name. It’s not even about whether you consider yourself an “influencer” or not. The KEY is that if you want to successfully affiliate with a brand and see success doing it, there NEEDS to be passion and authenticity behind who you choose to represent and partner with. This episode covers it all.

Not as much from the heart

About two years ago I started listening to Jenna and following her on Instagram. I was enamored with her sincerity and authenticity. However, over the last 6 months/year I’ve felt like the content has been superficial. She claims to see and understand women and prides herself in being relatable and resilient, but honestly, I don't see it anymore.

Maybe it’s because I’m cynical and when I reached out for support and advice when my mom’s cancer returned and she underwent massive brain surgery that has required me to care for her, she never even looked at my message. At 25 I’ve dealt with essentially losing both my parents, healed from an eating disorder, am vocal about mental health and my own MH, and had a major shift in careers from higher edu to counseling.
Throughout so many shifts, I used to listen to the GoalDigger podcast as a way to reset, restore, feel a little less lonely, and find inspiration from incredibly resilient, intelligent and powerful women.
However, I can’t relate to the people she interviews anymore. I don't feel heard, seen, or represented by her interviewees or her alleged “candidness.” Her biggest issues and vulnerabilities shared on her platform aren’t as deep (not that ANYONE has to reveal everything or anything, but her “struggles” just feel repetitive and shallow at this point).
Honestly, I’m over the podcast. I genuinely wish no ill will towards Jenna in any way, shape, or form, but I suppose I’m just one of those people who doesn’t want to grow with her or her brand anymore.
