Missed Potential

I enjoy the format of the 4 guys weighing in, but after listening to the episode concerning abortion and euthanasia I had some concerns. You considered strong arguments for abortion and euthanasia and brought forth extremely weak and poorly elaborated counterpoints as the leading opposition. If Autonomy is the chief pillar by which you are going to judge and issue, why even discuss the other pillars. Abortion to me doesn’t even come close to requiring a god to oppose. Truly the main counterpoint is “life begins at conception (unique DNA at fertilization, making this a unique life) and to terminate this life is murder”, while the burden on the mother should not be ignored and should be heavily supported, it would be wrong to terminate a life. While you didn’t have to agree with this, it was possible to bring it up instead of representing pro-life arguments as “religious” and to “be avoided”. Concerning euthanasia, you all seemed perfectly happy to settle on shaky utilitarian ideals. There is a reason euthanasia is called a “mercy killing” because it is, in fact, killing. Counters to utilitarian ideals are not scarce, and should be examined. These are just a few concerns, nothing personal. I truly would just like to hear and even discussion and think you could have addressed these counterpoints.
