I love dante’s inferno
I saw someone on twitter compare having a homestuck fan period as a teenager to having chicken pox; if that’s the case, then this podcast gave me shingles. After spending a couple evenings feeling weepy and watching davekat lyricstucks, I’m all better, but be warned.
If your experience with homestuck was mostly disconnected from its “live” fandom, you’ll be fascinated by the huge degree of back-and-forth between the comic and its readers that Michael’s spelunking uncovers. Solves a lot of mysteries.
This show is funny and frightening
In my early 20s, I narrowly avoided falling into the Homestuck event horizon.
Seeing Cameron’s response, I am very thankful I instead got very into Achewood, a comic with no problems, no parasociality with the fans and creator, and no troubling language from the creator.
great insight
One man really does not want to be here and the other man offers fascinating insight into Internet history, transformative fan influences, and the creation of Homestuck. One may question whether it is too cruel to make a man so opposed to everything about Homestuck read Homestuck. He sounds like he really hates doing this. I suppose it is the job of a critic to consume content you despise so you can systematically nitpick all the things you didn't like. I'm personally not interested in listening to that kind of criticism, but the Homestuck history being laid out by the other critic is very interesting, so I plan to stick with the podcast.
