In a Violent Nature: Unveiling Horror, Gender Dynamics, and Theatrical Triumphs

In a Violent Nature: Unveiling Horror, Gender Dynamics, and Theatrical Triumphs

Hey horror junkies, we hope you're ready for another spine-chilling and thought-provoking episode of Horror Rewind!

This week, we're diving deep into the dark and eerie world of slasher cinema with our latest episode feature: In a Violent Nature.

    🎬 Here's what to expect:

Who could forget the electrifying audience reactions during our Atlanta screenings of "The Invisible Man" and "The Visit"? This week, we're channeling that same energy as we recount our virgin viewing of "In a Violent Nature." From the killer's POV narrative to the gorgeously eerie Ontario setting, we couldn't wait to break our silence and dissect every chilling detail.

We then shift our focus to the dynamics of slasher films, particularly how "In a Violent Nature" compares to iconic characters like Leatherface. Discover why the killer's playful moment with a toy car left a lasting impression, blending horror and unexpected tenderness. And let's not forget the intentionally grating camper dialogue that solidified their status as unwelcome guests—proving once again that some films are best enjoyed with a lively crowd.

Our conversation also tackles the complex portrayal of gender in horror. We critique the overused r*pe revenge trope and express our yearning for a more nuanced female slasher character.

Wrapping up, we reflect on the emotional toll of working on dark material, celebrate Tracy Arnold's theater success, and recommend the film "Immaculate" featuring Sidney Sweeney. Plus, you'll love the hilarious ad-libbed line that became a crowd favorite!

Ladies talking about dope horror movies

I give this podcast 4/5 full moons (just listened to the American Werewolf In London episode). Just found this podcast when I was looking for a solid horror movie podcast and luckily I found Horror Rewind! The standard two hosts know a lot about horror movies and culture in general. They’re moms which I love. They have dope taste in movies. They give some insight into movies that I dig and they don’t drag on and on, very short and sweet episodes. Great show y’all!

Asher James Co. ,

I’m biased but...

So I’m Kelly and Meg’s new producer, WOOHOO! Can’t wait for you all to hear what we’ve done to revamp the show! I’m here dropping a review, because I’m actually now a big fan of Kelly and Meg’s works and their show. YES YES I know I’ve got a bias but I swear they didn’t pay me to say any of this! Their knowledge of the Horror genre mixed with their quirky back an forth make this show so fun to listen to and even more fun to produce! Thanks for listening y’all! We’ll see you in the horror section!

The Infamous Niko ,

I expected more :(

If you want an intelligent, stimulating podcast where you are entertained & learn something- then this isn’t it! I had high hopes for this podcast after purchasing one of their “The Science of” books, & it’s like it’s not even the same people that wrote it. All my hopes were dashed! Other feminist podcasts dive DEEP, do homework & research, talk about tropes, hidden themes, politics, etc. These ladies don’t even talk about the subject matter- they just ramble about COMPLETELY unrelated topics thru 99% of the episodes. They do manage to talk about their idiotic husbands during EVERY episode though! They really should listen to their competitors & try to do better. They do not come across as intelligent or feminist at all & it’s awful.
