Ink Stained Wretches
Eliana Johnson and Chris Stirewalt love the news business but they hate a lot of what’s happening to it these days. Using their decades of experience in print, digital and TV news they tell the story behind the stories, always on the lookout for bias, sloppy reporting and, well, just plain wretched journalism. Every week they help you to be a better, smarter news consumer.
Hosts & Guests
Love being a wretch
Feb 24
Nothing but love for Eliana & Chris. They’re the best. Always interesting, funny, respectful, diverse in topic & timely. I’d pay good $ to get two pods a week. It’s so hard to wait for Friday
Chris is so annoying
Mar 7
The show is so much stronger when Chris is absent. A series of revolving guest hosts would be preferable at this point. The two E-Jays segments on Megyn’s show is good. Anything but Chris.
Can I get?
Feb 22
Thanks to Chris for pointing out the importance of “May I please” whether requesting a meal from a server or spouse! #Make Manners Great Again.🤓
Good Cop/Bad Cop
Jan 24
The partner cop show of media analysis and criticism. Chris is the chirpy boy from the hills…a little anoying to the hard-bitten in the audience. Eliana is the tough chick with a Lois Vitenne bag…grating to people who like nice. Together they’re busting up the bad guys and the ridiculous, while ushering a new era in the American media. Thank you.
Eliana Rocks
Feb 14
Let Eliana talk more (I follow the pod just to hear her - she is so balanced and down to earth), please. Chris, you can be great but have been hanging out with the Dispatch crowd too much - not looking for blanket endorsements of Trump administration actions, there is plenty to criticize, but a lot of your commentary sounds snarky and biased against the MAGA folks.
Blowing It
Feb 10
I personally like Chris Stierwalt but he’s blowing it for a while. You don’t have to like Trump. You don’t even have to be objective about Trump at this point. Give him both barrels if you wish. But keep it on policy. Never passing up an opportunity to intimate or allude that his voters, supporters or staff are racists, bigots or rubes has gone on too long. Many of us came for objective analysis and insider perspectives. And we left after constantly getting poked in the eye.
Less of Chris, more of Eliana
Feb 2
Chris bloviates, mansplains, monologues endlessly. He’s boring. Need Eliana to speak more, not just rebut his nonsense.
Stirewalt is the best!
11/27/2024
Stirewalt is one of my favorite political commentators to listen to! I was a big fan of his former podcast, I’ll Tell You What, and I’ve missed his refreshingly rational, funny yet incredibly astute takes on what’s going on in the world. I’m glad to have that back with this podcast. Not as familiar with Eliana, but she seems to be a good counterpart to Chris, although I don’t agree with her 100% of the time. But still very smart and well-spoken/thoughtful.
So and so
12/21/2024
Chris has been one of my favorite since his days with Dana Perino. Love Eliana as well. This has been my number one podcast also side Megyn Kelly until lately. I even have two sons currently at HSC. I understand Chris’s disdain of Trump, but it’s clouding his commentary. He’s always been unbiased as possible, clear minded, and well thought out until lately. Don’t let your dislike of Trump ruin a good thing.
How to improve the show
11/27/2024
This show would be much better if Chris Stirewalt didn’t have the cohost he does. She is unpleasant and adds no value whatsoever.
