"An Emergency With Our Closest Friend" (w/ Cole Escola)

"An Emergency With Our Closest Friend" (w/ Cole Escola)

Broadway. You don't get bigger than THAT. And today's Las Cultch guest, gleaming diamond of the culture Cole Escola, is headed there, honey. "Oh, Mary!" is the show AND the moment, and Matt & Bowen welcome its star and playwright to discuss reasons for dick appointment cancellation, how it might actually be the time for our civilization to end, and whether or not 45 deserves a turn to *dazzle* on Broadway. All this, Cole's refusal to discuss the Met Gala, the time Bow and Cole saw a Dutch production of Les Miz, new Nicholas Galitzine theories, the best bathroom cruising and birding locations, and the question of whether or not our assholes are the same color as our lips. Also, dream casting for the future of Oh, Mary!, pills, how to battle giardia when it hits your household, theme party etiquette, a lot of tension and a ton of other fucking nonsense. You wanted Cole?! Well, they're here, queer and USED to it (hearing how much Matt and Bowen love them). See Oh, Mary! at the Lyceum starting in June! 12 Weeks Only!

The sisters are joined by the very special Taylor Tomlinson in this joyous episode! The discourse includes Hugh Jackman's sweaty glove, being a pro at reading a teleprompter, the culture of Romeo & Juliet, doing clean stand up on the church circuit, creating new stars, emails from Baz Luhrmann, co-opting the language of generation Z, and three IDTSH's you'll never forget! Get into it!

“The Gutter Is Coming Through” (w/ Tyler Henry)

Matt & Bowen get absolutely read by Tyler Henry, thee Hollywood Medium, on this ep of Las Culturistas, and are blown away by the experience! The hosts with the most talk to the gay who speaks to ghosts about how exactly he does what he does, exploring family lore, and being grateful for being gay in the context of Tyler realizing his ability at a young age. All this, the scrutiny that surrounds reading celebrities, how Sarah Paulson helped launched Tyler's career, how to spot a bad or manipulative psychic, and how The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is a fascinating example of what happens when a medium gets drunk and cornered. Also, The Amanda Show and the supernatural gift Amanda Bynes possesses, meth gators, Santa Monica culture, Prius drivers and what Tyler sees for Taylor! "Taste!" (w/ Dua Lipa)

    "Taste!" (w/ Dua Lipa)

You know the old wives tale! The summer gets to start two months early because DUA LIPA is on Las Culturistas! The one and only talks to Matt & Bowen about creating the new album Radical Optimism, headlining Glastonbury, getting that google cal together, doing double duty on SNL, and having the best god damn taste. Also, the time Katy Perry pulled a 15 year old Dua on stage to dance to "I Wanna Dance With Somebody", saying YES to the deluxe edition, the experience of becoming blonde, and the drag queens lipsyncing Dua's songs on RuPaul's Drag Race. All this, the crisping drawer, how sometimes people can be like "Vanderpump Rules!" and a response to the critics who say Dua is "always on holiday".

Because we love-love you all… here’s an extra serving of Las Cultch for you! ‘Cause what were we supposed to do, exactly? Not talk about Challengers? Zendaya’s latest with director Luca Guadagnino is a total bop and Matt & Bowen get all up into it. Also, publicists? This is your moment. On Friday, May 3rd, the categories for the Las Culturistas Culture Awards are announced. Use May to campaign! The nominees will be announced at the end of the month. So make your voice heard and let your freak flaggot fly! See you Wednesday….. when it will become clear that… training season’s over. OOP!

Remove Religious Ads

I love the podcast but please remove the religious podcast advertisements that play multiple times through the episode. As a queer person listening to a queer podcast it’s disturbing to suddenly be listening to someone preach loudly into my ears without consent.

Sometmes it hits, most often it grates.

Some episodes are good but when they shriek and talk over one another, the show is too obnoxious for words. Rogers often reduces himself to a gay stereotype--the screaming Mimi. Bowen, now being given far too much airtime on SNL, has become one note. Playing the sarcastic gay all the time ends up tiresome and unappealing. Plus, he’s not all that funny. I think he’s the intersection of mediocre talent and low expectations. There are plenty of gay funny men out there; these are not two of them.

Bring back your funny friends

No shade to Mandy Moore, Tyler Henry and Dua Lipa but why don't they have all their funny friends on as guests anymore? ☹️

Rarely listen to this these days...
